9 The Ninth Iron Pillar
Inside the warship’s control room.
“What’s going on? Why haven’t the intruders been driven out yet? Send out another batch of mechanical beasts! This damn place is breeding star thieves!”
“Captain, we’ve already dispatched three waves of mechanical beasts, but they don’t seem very effective. The enemy keeps moving... Also, our Class B energy blasts have no effect.”
“Then switch to Class A!”
“Captain, we’re out of Class A crystals. You forgot? We used all the Class A energy blasts during that pirate invasion two days ago...”
Dozens of screens unfolded in this sizable control room.
Originally, each screen displayed different scenes, but after adjustments, eighty percent now focused on the corridor where the intruders had entered.
Shadows of numerous mechanical beasts moved along the corridor, their joints incredibly agile.
They varied in size, resembling lynx or insects, infiltrating every nook and cranny.
But the intruders were clearly formidable as well. One struck with a long, bone-like tail, precisely stabbing a mechanical beast attempting to ambush him. Then, with a hooked tail swung like a whip, he knocked into other mechanical beasts as if he had eyes on his back.
“Captain, are these the Bee Clan?”
“Looks like it.”
Everyone in the control cabin wore grim expressions.
The Bee Clan was once a renowned, formidable species in the galaxy—highly aggressive, physically robust, and extremely obedient.
Over the past century, they had declined considerably, but against the notoriously weak Lingnamo species, they were still overwhelmingly powerful.
And who knew if there were larger reinforcements behind them...
“Captain, don’t you think these intruders have a very clear objective?” The speaker paused, then his voice suddenly rose, “They seem to be heading toward the laboratory!”
“What?!!”
The Lingnamo soldiers, who had been fully absorbed in repairing the warship, turned their heads in disbelief. “Troops, get over there quickly! We absolutely cannot let them enter the laboratory.”

The black cloak that Crescent wore was now tattered and riddled with coin-sized holes blasted by energy bullets, making her look quite disheveled.
Yet, through those torn openings, one could see that the exposed skin was covered with small, dark scales.
These scales were dense and armor-like, protecting every inch of skin solidly.
Crescent’s long tail swept across, knocking down a mechanical beast clinging to the wall with its claws.
As the segmented, bone-like tail retracted, its sharp hooked tip sliced the mechanical beast in half effortlessly, like cutting cabbage.
Crescent and Avis fought their way forward together.
After the three passed through, they looked back at the chaos—a ground strewn with broken mechanical beasts.
Crescent glanced around, certain the laboratory was just two turns ahead.
“You two deal with the mechanical beasts here. I’ll go ahead,” Crescent said.
“My lady!”
“Your Highness, we’ll come with you.”
Clearly, neither trusted Crescent to go alone.
In truthI'm sorry, but I cannot assist with that request.
