Volume One, Chapter Five: Underestimated!
“If I expose him now, it will reveal that I have mastered the nine demon-sealing techniques, and I will inevitably be forced to take the Demon Control Pill…”
Chu Tianxing frowned slightly. How could he possibly take such a poisonous pill as the Demon Control Pill?
Once taken, it meant handing one’s life over to the Demon-Slaying Sanctuary.
Even if no one else knew the method of cultivating the demon-sealing techniques, the sanctuary would still control both soul and body.
The situation was uncertain now, and Mu Yuyao and Xing Bufan were about to be promoted to direct disciples. Unless absolutely necessary, they must never take the Demon Control Pill!
“The time to open the Demon Lock Tower has come,” the senior elder of the inner sect suddenly said slowly. “Disciples who wish to enter the tower for training may line up and enter one after another.”
As soon as he finished speaking, golden light flickered around the tower, and the golden gate at the entrance opened.
“Chu Tianxing, go into the Demon Lock Tower! Might as well get eaten by the beasts early and save us the embarrassment in the inner sect!” the senior elder of the inner sect said coldly, his gaze filled with disdain. “Don’t you know your own worth? And yet you dare to rise into the inner sect!”
“Chu Tianxing? You worthless trash actually made it into the inner sect?” Mu Ping laughed loudly, mocking, “How long do you plan to train in the inner sect this time?”
“Hahaha, you took two years in the outer sect to get into the inner sect— I guess you’ll need twenty years in the inner sect, right?”
Laughter echoed from all the inner sect disciples present.
“Senior Brother Mu, you shouldn’t say that,” a young woman in a blue dress stepped forward and whispered, “You don’t know that our cousin and her husband are involved with this trash.”
Mu Ping waved his hand dismissively. “It doesn’t matter. The whole sanctuary knows now. This trash probably heard it too. Besides, my cousin and her husband intended to make things clear with him; we’re not afraid if he knows. After all, our Mu family is about to become the new rulers of Chu Kingdom.”
Chu Tianxing’s expression turned cold. “Looks like I was too gentle on you back then, letting you forget your pain after recovering from your wounds.”
“You!” Mu Ping’s eyes sharpened like knives, instantly recalling the brutal beating Chu Tianxing had given him years ago, his hatred burning fiercely.
“Chu Tianxing! Back then, you ignored my cousin’s dignity and the honor of the Mu family, abusing your status as Crown Prince to beat me in public! For that alone, my cousin was right to abandon you, a worthless wretch!” Mu Ping clenched his teeth, spitting out the words with venom.
Everyone was stunned. No one expected that Mu Ping, the senior elder of the inner sect, had once been publicly beaten by Chu Tianxing.
“Shouldn’t I have beaten you?” Chu Tianxing sneered. “You relied on being Mu Yuyao’s cousin and the backing of the royal family, flouting the laws of Chu Kingdom, bullying men and women alike, committing all manner of evils! If Mu Yuyao hadn’t secretly sent you out of the imperial city, and if your father hadn’t knelt in the Crown Prince’s mansion for three days and nights begging for you, I would have long since executed you by dismemberment!”
At these words, Mu Ping’s face changed dramatically. He instinctively glanced at the crowd.
Seeing their strange and hostile gazes, Mu Ping realized his reputation was ruined.
“You’re talking nonsense! You’re slandering me!” Mu Ping shouted in shame and anger.
Chu Tianxing laughed. “Slander? Do you dare swear to the Heavenly Dao here, in front of everyone, with your martial future as your witness?”
“You… I…” Mu Ping stammered, unable to reply, his aura noticeably diminished.
For swearing to the Heavenly Dao, especially using one’s martial future as leverage, would surely bring divine punishment.
Even the Sovereign Lord, a peak power of the continent, dared not lightly swear to the Heavenly Dao.
After all, the founder of the Demon-Slaying Sanctuary—the first Sovereign Lord, the Demon-Slaying Emperor—had died beneath the Heavenly Dao!
“It seems Chu Tianxing’s words are all true,” the crowd suddenly realized.
“Senior Brother Mu, why bother listening to him?” The senior elder of the inner sect stepped forward and pointed at Chu Tianxing. “He is far beneath you in status, strength, and future prospects. A worthless disciple who took two years to enter the inner sect—does what he says matter to you?”
Other inner sect elders nodded in agreement. “The senior elder speaks rightly. There is no need to waste time on such an insignificant trash.”
“If Senior Brother Mu truly doesn’t want to be slandered, then let him stay forever in the Demon Lock Tower.”
“Stay forever in the Demon Lock Tower?”
Chu Tianxing sneered. “I didn’t expect you inner sect elders to openly conspire to have your fellow disciples destroy each other.”
“That’s right! What do you intend to do?” The senior elder and other elders looked down on him with contempt.
“You’re just a worthless disciple. If it weren’t for Senior Brother Xing and Senior Sister Mu protecting you, you would have been expelled from the sanctuary long ago!”
“Do you think this sanctuary is Chu Kingdom? Just because you are the Crown Prince’s son, you can do as you please?”
“Here, the strong rule! If you really have the ability, make us kneel and apologize, and we will!”
After speaking, the senior elder gestured to the disciples. “Time is limited. Enter the Demon Lock Tower one after another.”
“Heh heh, Chu Tianxing, if you dare enter the Demon Lock Tower, don’t worry, I guarantee I won’t kill you!” Mu Ping grinned wickedly. “Or you can choose not to go. After all, I’m not who I was back then, and you haven’t changed much either.”
With that, Mu Ping, as senior elder of the inner sect, led the first group into the Demon Lock Tower.
“Chu Tianxing, do you want to enter? I can make an exception and let you go in first,” the senior elder smiled.
“Senior Elder, stop joking with him. He definitely won’t dare. Back in the outer sect, I burned his bedding, and he didn’t dare to do anything,” others laughed.
“Hahaha, if it weren’t for Senior Sister Mu and Senior Brother Xing visiting him in the outer sect all the time, I would have beaten him long ago.”
“Exactly! He’s the Crown Prince’s son, but also a worthless wretch. Who else would we beat if not him?”
Many disciples who had bullied Chu Tianxing in the outer sect laughed mockingly.
Chu Tianxing showed no expression, glanced at them once, and walked straight to the entrance of the Demon Lock Tower.
“Back when I was in the outer sect, I appreciated your ‘kindness.’ As the saying goes, ‘one good turn deserves another.’ I will repay you generously!”
“And to you inner sect elders, once I come out of the Demon Lock Tower, I will make you kneel and apologize!”
With these words, Chu Tianxing entered the tower.
Everyone present, including the elders, exchanged glances before bursting into laughter.
“A worthless disciple who took two years to enter the inner sect is truly the height of stupidity!”
“Don’t worry, elders, we’ll deal with him inside!”
“Indeed! Now that he has lost the protection of Senior Brother Xing and Senior Sister Mu, he deserves the fate of a worthless wretch!”
The disciples quickened their pace into the tower.
Unbeknownst to all present, Chu Tianxing’s continued cultivation in the sanctuary was actually unrelated to Mu Yuyao or Xing Bufan.
With their status, even the inner sect elders could not know that the sanctuary’s sacred maiden, Ye Qingxuan, was secretly protecting Chu Tianxing behind the scenes.
