But now, the hosts of the candlelight dinner had changed, and Lan Qing and Shen Jin would be staying at the farmhouse courtyard along with Yan Ningsi and Bian He. Sang Yijia thought that the feelings between the main couple would surely continue to deepen as before, but this time, she herself would absolutely not be involved.

Recalling her explanation that morning, Sang Yijia narrowed her eyes—next time, she’d have to be more careful.

“Miss Sang,” the coordinator approached, holding a row of dresses, “which of these do you like?”

Sang Yijia’s gaze was immediately drawn to them—a palette of delicate greens—leaving her slightly surprised. She glanced over at Lu Wenchuan, who was already picking through the clothes.

“Did you prepare all these?” Sang Yijia pulled her eyes away and looked at the coordinator.

The coordinator smiled faintly. “Miss Sang, it’s clear to everyone that you like green.”

Sang Yijia’s phone case was green, her phone ring was green, her earrings were cute green leaves, and even her shoes were green.

“Mhm.” Sang Yijia had never hidden her fondness for the color. After acknowledging this, she turned to select a dress. Too bright a green wasn’t flattering, nor was one that was too dark.

Sang Yijia had never quite figured out which shade of green she liked best—sometimes it was a vivid, eye-catching hue, other times a forest green. In short, she liked the kind of color that delighted her at first sight.

“This one, I think.” Sang Yijia chose a more elegant dress, also the most modest of the options.

The coordinator looked a little disappointed, but a guest’s preference and satisfaction were most important.

“This way, Miss Sang.”

Sang Yijia went upstairs to change. Lu Wenchuan glanced sideways, noticing that indeed, she’d chosen a gentle, eye-pleasing green. He seemed to remember something amusing and the corners of his lips curled.

“This one, then,” Lu Wenchuan decided as well, picking out a green suit.

The staff member who took the suit from Lu Wenchuan fell silent for a moment. “Mr. Lu, are you sure?”

A green suit was notoriously difficult to pull off—most people wouldn’t even consider it. The staff couldn’t help but double-check.

Lu Wenchuan didn’t hesitate. “Yes, this one.”

“All right…” the staff member murmured, “this way, please.”

Both went to change. At this point, the livestream showed nothing but the closed door and the busy stylists.

The viewers in the chat had waited a long while without seeing anyone emerge, some even stifling yawns.

“Sang Yijia’s dress is fine, but Lu Wenchuan…”

“I can imagine: as long as he’s handsome enough, no color is out of reach for Lu Wenchuan.”

“Didn’t you notice? There’s something ambiguous about the way Lu Wenchuan treats Sang Yijia.”

“What’s so strange about that?”

“It’s a dating show, after all.”

Watching the comments on the stream, Wei Heng clicked his tongue and lounged lazily on the sofa, legs crossed over the armrest. “Lu Wenchuan really is patient with Sang Yijia—goes along with everything.”

“When will he treat us the same way?” Wei Heng looked up at the man across from him.

Qi Bin, having just signed a contract at his desk, glanced over and arched his brow sharply. “Don’t you have anything else to do?”

“Do you have to come by every day?” Qi Bin sighed heavily, rubbing his temples. “Isn’t your own company busy?”

“What’s there to be busy about?” Wei Heng stood, stretching languidly. “I’ve got my sister holding down the fort—what can’t she handle?”

Qi Bin didn’t have an older sister, but he did have a troublemaking little sister. Now, listening to Wei Heng, his temples started to throb. “Are you showing off?”

“Not at all,” Wei Heng wagged his finger, then glanced at his watch. “Six o’clock—dinner time.”

“Want to grab a bite together?”

“No, I’ve ordered takeout.” Qi Bin didn’t even bother to look up. “The company just went public, there’s a mountain of things to do.”

“Don’t come by unless it’s important these next couple days,” Qi Bin swiftly browsed the next document. “When you’re here, I don’t have time to entertain you.”

Wei Heng clicked his tongue. “Why are you so busy?”

“Look at Lu Wenchuan—he seems to have all the free time in the world.”

Qi Bin let out a dry laugh. “If you hadn’t convinced him to join the dating show, none of this would’ve landed on my plate!”

Shengchuang Technology was only a part of the Lu family’s holdings, and to separate from both the Lu and Wei families, Lu Wenchuan had started his own venture after graduating from university.

Qi Bin was currently at Huihong, a company founded by Lu Wenchuan himself, where Qi Bin served as general manager.

“Even if Lu Wenchuan hadn’t gone on the show, this would’ve been your job to do.” Wei Heng replied carelessly.

Qi Bin: “…”

Qi Bin took a deep breath and looked up, his expression turning serious. “What did you really come here for?”

Ever since learning about the relationship between Wei Heng and Lu Wenchuan, Qi Bin had been perpetually uneasy, wanting to keep an eye on Wei Heng—though after so many years of friendship, Wei Heng had never done anything to harm the company or betray Lu Wenchuan.

But just because something hadn’t happened yet didn’t mean it never would.

Qi Bin’s feelings were complicated. He’d asked Lu Wenchuan about it, and all he’d said was to maintain the status quo. And that was that.

“I’m bored,” Wei Heng admitted, spreading his hands helplessly. “I have nothing to do.”

Damn, Qi Bin thought, he really shouldn’t have asked.

“Haven’t you always wanted to set up a team? Tonight I’ve arranged to meet with PG’s jungler—if you two hit it off, maybe you can recruit him.” After all this time, Wei Heng finally revealed his purpose.

But Qi Bin was unconcerned. “I already have a candidate for the jungler position, just waiting for a reply.”

“Oh?” Wei Heng was intrigued. “Who is it?”

——

Ten minutes later, Sang Yijia emerged in her dress—a pale green, as if she were a spirit stepping out of the forest.

The coordinator stared, utterly entranced. This light green not only failed to dull her complexion, but made her skin look even more luminous.

The neckline’s design perfectly revealed her delicate collarbones, and her rounded, snowy shoulders appeared and disappeared beneath the white sleeves, adding a touch of mystery that made one eager to discover more.

And as for the rest, the dress accentuated every curve just enough, cinching where it should in a way that would inspire envy.

The coordinator drew a sharp breath, shaking his head and clapping his hands. “Perfect, absolutely perfect.”

Sang Yijia, looking at herself in the mirror after changing, had to admit she was astonished. The original Sang Yijia had been truly beautiful, flawless in every way—a testament to the creator’s extraordinary favor.

She exhaled slowly. “Thank you.”

“This way, please.” The head of the styling team managed the entire look, from clothing to hairstyle and jewelry—he arranged it all.

The other staff worked in their own divisions.

Sang Yijia sat down. The makeup artist, seeing her fair features, suddenly didn’t know where to begin.

“Miss Sang, your eyebrows are truly beautiful. Did you have them shaped professionally before?” The makeup artist examined her reflection carefully. Her facial proportions were the perfect golden ratio—the most stunning among all the celebrities the artist had ever seen.

Why hadn’t she noticed this before? The makeup artist frowned in puzzlement.
