Chapter Ninety-Nine: The Question
The blade light flashed suddenly.
Ding!
Guo Hu's long saber was blocked by a dagger.
The two weapons looked absurdly mismatched in size, almost comical.
Yet Guo Hu's long saber was easily stopped by that small dagger.
Feeling the immense force gradually pressing down through his weapon, the veins on Guo Hu's face bulged.
"Who are you?" Guo Hu stared at the masked man in black before him, his heart filled with wariness.
Only then did he notice that Rong Ning, not far away, was already lying on the ground, motionless!
One move!
"Impossible!"
Panic!
Thud!
Thud, thud, thud...
The overwhelming force drove Guo Hu back step by step!
"Argh!" Guo Hu roared, stomping his left foot hard into the ground, his entire sole sinking into the soil.
Only then did he barely manage to stop.
"Die!" Guo Hu's right leg lashed out violently, sweeping toward Qin Yi's chest!
The next instant, Guo Hu felt the immense pressure on his saber vanish abruptly, and his kick landed on nothing but air.
Danger!
Within his line of sight, the man had somehow already disappeared from before him.
"Tiger Step!" Without hesitation, Guo Hu activated his movement technique, darting swiftly in one direction.
But at that very moment, several flashes of silver light burst out behind him.
Shlick!
Shlick, shlick!
"Ah!" A miserable scream rang out.
Guo Hu's arms were brutally slashed several times, each cut deep enough to expose bone, and even the bone itself had been shaved away.
Gritting his teeth against the searing pain, Guo Hu once again burst into motion, shifting his position.
But.
It was undoubtedly futile.
The silver light clung to him relentlessly. Every time he shifted, new wounds appeared on his body.
"Moon Tread!"
A sweeping kick lashed out.
Boom!
Guo Hu was sent flying, crashing into a large tree before slamming onto the ground.
Swoosh, swoosh!
Two daggers followed, piercing into his legs.
"Ah!" Guo Hu howled in agony.
Qin Yi darted over once more and directly snapped both his arms and both his legs!
Meanwhile, the chaotic battle in the courtyard continued.
Qin Yi turned into a blur of afterimages. Wherever he passed, the Martial Prohibition Guards of the Martial Prohibition Hall fell one after another.
In the field, the burly bearded man froze for a moment when he saw Guo Hu and Rong Ning easily disposed of by Qin Yi.
Even Li Yayuan was slightly startled. Resolved that quickly?
"Bang!" The bearded man forced Li Yayuan back with a palm strike, then turned and fled!
"Where do you think you're running!" Li Yayuan cried out sharply and immediately gave chase.
"Qin Feng, help me chase him down! We can't let him escape!"
Qin Yi remained expressionless and darted forward swiftly.
The bearded man had just fled the post station when Li Yayuan, chasing close behind him, shouted, "Watch the hidden weapon!"
Alarm bells rang in the bearded man's mind. He didn't turn his head, but his body still shifted slightly to the side.
However, that cost him a beat—his speed faltered for just a moment, slowing him down!
No sound of a projectile cutting through the air came from behind, which infuriated the bearded man into cursing, "Damn you, you bitch of the Green Lotus Sect! You dare toy with me!"
Even as he cursed, he kept running forward at full speed.
Suddenly, the sound of something tearing through the air came from his side!
"Damn it!" The bearded man hadn't expected Qin Yi to catch up so quickly, even overtaking Li Yayuan!
"Hey!"
The bearded man chose to take the blow head-on.
He had no choice. There was no other option—it was too fast!
Their fists and palms clashed rapidly four or five times before separating again.
They were evenly matched, neither gaining the upper hand!
But by holding the bearded man back, Qin Yi had bogged him down, preventing him from breaking away and escaping.
"Where do you think you can run now!" Li Yayuan had caught up at some point and leaped into the fray.
The three of them immediately became locked in combat!
With Qin Yi and Li Yayuan attacking him together, the bearded man quickly found himself at a disadvantage.
Neither of these two was weaker than him!
In fact, Qin Yi was even a notch faster.
Shlick!
Li Yayuan abandoned her defense entirely, going all out against the bearded man.
The bearded man was forced onto the defensive.
But Qin Yi, with his superior speed, began to fight dirty, using his agility to land sneak attacks with his dagger from time to time.
Before long, though the bearded man had dodged the vital strikes, numerous wounds had been carved into his body by Qin Yi's blade.
"Ah! Your dagger is poisoned!" The bearded man was beside himself with rage!
A peak ninth-stage master, and he still resorted to such despicable tricks!
The poison surged toward his heart. The bearded man's legs went weak, and his speed faltered.
Li Yayuan seized the opportunity and took his head with a single stroke of her steel sword!
Seeing the bearded man brought down by one sword strike, Li Yayuan hurried over and began searching the man's body.
After a moment, she pulled out an exquisite wooden box, and a hint of joy appeared on her face.
Qin Yi glanced at it but didn't ask.
"Qin Feng, thank you for your help this time," Li Yayuan said.
"We were only making a trade. No need for thanks," Qin Yi replied coolly.
"Haha, I like your straightforwardness. Oh, right—I almost forgot to give you the martial arts manual." With that, she drew a manual from her bosom and tossed it to Qin Yi.
Qin Yi caught it and looked at it. The cover bore three characters—Eight Extremes Skill!
"There's a matching secret medicine for cultivation included."
"Good." Qin Yi nodded and tucked it into his robes.
Soon, the two returned to the post station. All the Martial Prohibition Guards inside had been dealt with.
"I need to ask that man something. After that, I'll take care of him. You go on ahead," Qin Yi said, pointing at Guo Hu, who lay on the ground unable to move, and speaking to Li Yayuan.
"Very well." Li Yayuan nodded and left swiftly with her people.
Qin Yi, meanwhile, hoisted up the broken-limbed Guo Hu and carried him away.
A quarter of an hour later.
Inside a mountain temple.
Qin Yi dumped Guo Hu onto the ground, gathered some firewood, and lit it with a flint.
The firelight cast its glow upon Guo Hu's despairing face. He knew there was no escape for him now.
"Guo Hu, tell me—why did you people hunt down Zhang Daoxuan back then?" Qin Yi asked coldly.
"Who are you? A friend of Zhang Daoxuan?" Guo Hu's expression shifted.
"Who I am doesn't matter. What matters is that you answer my question. Otherwise, you'll suffer." Qin Yi drew a gleaming dagger and sneered.
"Hmph! I'll never tell you. Kill me if you dare!" Guo Hu remained defiant.
"Is it because of that incomplete Daoist diagram on Zhang Daoxuan's person?" Qin Yi narrowed his eyes.
At those words, Guo Hu's expression remained unchanged, but his gaze flickered almost imperceptibly!
"Just as I thought!" A smile spread across Qin Yi's face.
"Since you won't cooperate, then I'll just have to show you what it means to have your bones scraped clean!" Qin Yi bared a sincere smile.
