At half past midnight the next day, at the confluence of the Qinglong River and the Qiantang River, Hou Li’s private yacht was anchored on the water. An inflatable speedboat was quietly lowered from the yacht and made its way upstream along the lower reaches of the Qinglong River.

Onboard the speedboat were eight members of the Jackal mercenary group, plus a technician who stayed behind to coordinate communications and monitor for emergencies via hidden cameras that had been placed at major intersections and key locations during the day.

Hou Li watched the mercenary setting up various data streams on the yacht, feeling anxious and hoping that nothing would go wrong. Unfortunately, not every mercenary spoke the local language; at the very least, this one didn’t, and the only person Hou Li brought along was not a translator.

On the inflatable speedboat, the eight mercenaries had already donned their respective gear and used the remaining time to exchange information and finalize preparations.

“Take the target away without harming anyone else. If you encounter obstacles or resistance, don’t hold back, but try to avoid fatalities—we are in China, after all.”

“Captain, we’ve reached Position One,” the helmsman reported.

Ahead lay the section of the river contracted by the Wu family, with a one-meter-high fish-blocking dam. The speedboat pulled up at the shore.

“All right. Sparrow, Little Boy, stay here. The rest, come with me.”
