Chapter One: The Heavenly Book of the Great Dao
The deep and solemn night veiled the entire sky, and the vast expanse of the Hundred Thousand Great Mountains resembled crouching beasts, waiting for the darkness to fade away.
Atop the towering Peak of Divine Descent, there stood a legendary martial sect guarded by immortals—the Wild Wolf Gang.
“Jiang Fan, you little brat, are you still not up training? Do you want me to beat you to death?” Before dawn broke, the dilapidated wooden hut was kicked open, and a furious shout rang out.
Inside the hut, on a simple bed, a frail young boy was startled awake. He murmured in bewilderment, “Where... where am I?”
Like a tide, memories flooded his mind, and Jiang Fan gradually understood what had happened.
He had transmigrated.
In his previous life, he lived on a planet called Blue Star. Overwhelmed by stress and endless overtime, he died suddenly at a young age. Now, his soul had entered the body of a fourteen-year-old boy who, just yesterday, had been beaten to death with a whip.
This boy’s life was truly miserable.
Orphaned from a young age, he was left to live with his elder brother and sister-in-law, who treated him harshly. Not only did they starve him, but they forced him to labor endlessly in the fields, made him sleep in a pigsty, and waited for him to die of exhaustion so they could seize his share of the farmland.
Later, he was noticed by the so-called “immortal” of the Wild Wolf Gang and became the disciple of this master. He thought his fate would turn for the better, but as soon as he entered the sect, he was forced to train in the “Greenwood Longevity Technique.” If he failed to reach the required level within a set time, he would be beaten mercilessly. Those with weaker constitutions might even be beaten to death.
His talent was abysmal. After three months of training, he had already been beaten twice yet still hadn’t mastered the first level of the technique.
Last night, his cheap master, Old Devil Xu, flew into a rage and ordered him to be savagely beaten. Barely clinging to life, he returned to his quarters, and then there was nothing more...
It was precisely his death that allowed the soul of Jiang Fan from Blue Star to transmigrate here.
“The Greenwood Longevity Technique isn’t a proper cultivation method at all. My cheap master urges us disciples so relentlessly, probably so he can harvest us like crops once we succeed, refining us to elevate his own cultivation. Damn that Old Devil Xu!” Jiang Fan cursed in his heart.
He guessed this mainly because three months ago, two other boys who had been brought in as disciples alongside him had reached the third level of the Greenwood Longevity Technique.
Then, Old Devil Xu, overjoyed, took them away. More than half a month had since passed, and they had never been seen again.
“Ah... it hurts! So many wounds on my body. Damn Steward Liu, he really didn’t hold back!” Only now did Jiang Fan notice the countless, horrifying scars on his body. At the slightest movement, the pain from his wounds felt like tearing flesh.
“You lazy bones, the Wild Wolf Gang didn’t bring you up the mountain for free meals. Didn’t you get beaten enough last night?” A tall, burly, and cold-hearted middle-aged man spoke. As he did, the blood-stained whip in his hand lashed toward Jiang Fan.
Jiang Fan was terrified, wanting to resist, but found himself powerless. Any movement only worsened his pain.
With his current wretched physical state, a few more lashes would surely be fatal...
“Am I... am I going to be beaten to death again, right after being reborn? I won’t accept this...” Just as he feared he would die again so soon after rebirth, a dazzling golden light suddenly appeared before his eyes.
A strange golden book emerged and entered his mind. The appearance of this golden light was abrupt, and oddly, Steward Liu seemed unable to see it.
Jiang Fan sensed nothing unusual in Steward Liu and felt immense joy, quickly searching for the golden book’s whereabouts. As soon as he focused his thoughts, his consciousness entered a mist-filled space.
Within this space, only a single golden book existed.
“Heavenly Dao Scripture?” Jiang Fan was overjoyed.
With a rustle, the Heavenly Dao Scripture opened itself, and on the first page, a line of golden text appeared:
[The Heavenly Dao Scripture senses the enemy who wishes to kill you and records their name. When you are harmed, you can transfer the damage to the recorded person.]
[Recorded Person: Xu Renyi]
“Xu Renyi? Could it be Old Devil Xu? Looks like my guess was right—he really wants to kill me! Then let me transfer all my injuries onto you first...” Jiang Fan thought, and muttered, “Transfer all my wounds.”
A miraculous scene unfolded. All the countless wounds on his body vanished in an instant. Meanwhile, the name of Old Devil Xu in the Heavenly Dao Scripture dimmed slightly.
Though it seemed to take a long time, all this happened in a mere moment.
As he opened his eyes, he saw Steward Liu’s whip coming down, and quickly recited in his heart:
“Transfer the pain!”
Crack!
The whip struck, but Jiang Fan felt no pain at all. The magical effect of the Heavenly Dao Scripture was confirmed once again, emboldening him.
“Steward Liu, did you skip breakfast? Is that all you’ve got? Your whip wouldn’t even tickle me! Come on, try again!” Jiang Fan stood up, smiling as he looked at Steward Liu.
Steward Liu was instantly enraged and lashed out even harder with his whip.
Crack, crack, crack...
He whipped Jiang Fan fiercely, but Jiang Fan remained unaffected, as if nothing had happened.
“No feeling at all! Harder! Hit harder! You’re such a big guy, yet so useless. Are you sure you’re up to the task?” Jiang Fan’s face was full of mockery, making Steward Liu grind his teeth in anger, his eyes flashing with murderous intent.
“Damn it! You little bastard, don’t get cocky! Daring to insult me like this—today I’ll whip you to death!” Steward Liu was seized by murderous rage, feeling his dignity trampled and his honor deeply insulted.
