Chapter 109: Dirty Thoughts

As Shao Siming spoke, he set the supplements he had brought in front of him. Xie Qingtang watched him adopt this posture of trying to mend their relationship, and her wariness only grew.
As the saying goes, a weasel paying respects to a chicken never has good intentions. Besides, how could someone like Shao Siming, who put nothing above self-interest, suddenly change his ways?
"Didn't I tell you before that I'd be going back to the Xie house for dinner today? Why didn't you go back?" Shao Siming brought up the matter, seemingly forgetting that Xie Qingtang had rejected him the last time.
Xie Qingtang looked at him coldly. "Shao Siming, save your tricks. I don't know what scheme you're running against me, but I know it's nothing good. I'm no longer the naive little girl I once was, and I won't be manipulated by you anymore."
"Why won't you believe me? Even if a wicked man turns good, won't you even give him a chance to turn back from the brink?" Shao Siming let out a helpless sigh, looking as though being misunderstood by Xie Qingtang was a genuine source of distress.
On the wheelchair, Grandpa Xie's face flushed with fury. He slapped the armrest hard and said, "Shao Siming, you heartless beast! Don't think people don't know what you're really up to."
"Dad, what are you talking about? All these years, I've been taking care of you with all my heart. My methods may have been a little extreme, but everything I did was for your own good." Shao Siming continued his stubborn attempts to justify himself.
Grandpa Xie had truly never seen such a shameless man. His face turned red with rage, and for a moment, he could hardly catch his breath. Xie Qingtang quickly soothed his chest and said worriedly, "Grandpa, please don't get angry. Your body hasn't fully recovered yet."
"Shao Siming, get out of here right now. I've never acknowledged you as my father, and I never will, now or in the future." Xie Qingtang pointed at the door, issuing an order to leave.
Shao Siming's gaze instantly turned cold and dark, but he didn't confront Xie Qingtang and Grandpa Xie head-on. Instead, he seemed to be suppressing something with great effort.
Then, in a soft, gentle tone, he said, "Qingtang, I know you blame me. But after your mother passed away, whenever I looked at you, I thought of her. I was tormented with grief. That's why I sent you away—I only wanted to free myself from the pain of losing her."

"I know I neglected you all these years. But after you left, I never touched your room. I've kept it for you all along. Dad, I know that after so many years, you've never trusted me, never stopped guarding against me, but I've never resented you for that."
"The reason I sent you to the nursing home was that after Wan'er passed, both your physical and mental health deteriorated. I had no choice but to have you stay there to recuperate. I never imagined you would misunderstand me so deeply."
Shao Siming continued twisting the truth, but Grandpa Xie no longer wanted to hear any of it. Xie Qingtang rebutted him coldly: "Shao Siming, I know exactly what medicine you gave Grandpa. Stop putting on an act here. Stop displaying your clumsy performance while hiding your disgusting intentions in the shadows."
Seeing that no one in the whole courtyard wore a look of goodwill toward him, Shao Siming gritted his teeth. But then, as if remembering something, he continued, "I know this misunderstanding can't be resolved in a day or two. I'll come back again."
With that, he turned and left. Zhou Jinfan seized the chance and slammed the door shut. But Xie Qingtang picked up the supplements from the floor and, taking advantage of the moment the door was closing, hurled them all outside.
Shao Siming, walking ahead, turned back and saw the supplements thrown out the door. His gaze turned cold. He let out a sneer, straightened his clothes, and returned to his car.
In the courtyard, Grandpa Xie coughed violently several times. Seeing this, Xie Qingtang quickly tried to calm him down. "Grandpa, there's no need to be angry over a man like him. One day, I'll expose his true face to everyone."
"Tangtang, I know that. But we don't need to rush. Your strength still can't match Shao Siming's. Even though Gu Xiujin is helping you, you two aren't married after all—you're only connected by mutual interests. Shao Siming won't be afraid of you."
Though Grandpa Xie was anxious, he saw certain things with great clarity. He also knew that the reason Gu Xiujin was currently helping Xie Qingtang was simply because she held irreplaceable value to him.
"Grandpa, don't worry. I understand." Xie Qingtang nodded, a determined gleam shining in her eyes.
Meanwhile, in the old Xie family residence on the other side, Shao Bin was speaking to his mother with a look of boredom.

"Mom, why does Dad insist on having that good-for-nothing girl come back to the Xie family? Wasn't he furious when he heard she broke into the nursing home and rescued that old man? Why has he suddenly changed his mind these past few days?"
Shao Bin sat on the sofa, speaking impatiently to his mother, Xiao Rou.
"What do you know? Your father has a deeper purpose behind everything he does. If you don't understand, don't go spouting nonsense, or you'll only irritate him." Xiao Rou shot her son Shao Bin a glare.
Just as the two of them finished speaking, Shao Siming happened to walk in through the door. Xiao Rou immediately went up to him, her voice gentle as water. "Siming, how did it go? Is Qingtang coming back?"
"Hmph. If it weren't for her looks, would I be so eager to coax her back into the Xie family? She actually dares to put on airs in front of me. One day, I'll make her pay." Shao Siming sat down angrily and slammed his hand on the tea table.
Seeing his expression, Xiao Rou knew things hadn't gone well. She quickly poured him a glass of water and massaged his arm. "Alright, don't be angry. We haven't paid any attention to that girl for over a decade, so it's only natural she has some resentment. It's just a matter of slow-brewing the frog in warm water. Go see her a few more times. She's a young woman—coax her a little more, and she'll come around."
"Let's hope so. I never expected that after more than ten years, Xie Qingtang would grow into such a stunning beauty. If I can trick her back into the Xie family and use marriage to bring benefits to the family, our Xie Group will surely rise to even greater heights." Shao Siming's eyes gleamed with greed.
