With that, Qing Tang Xie immediately turned to Wei Yi Dong and apologized, “I’m sorry, Mr. Dong. Something urgent has come up tonight. Why don’t you come to the Canshan Hall tomorrow? I will give you a detailed explanation of the care instructions for your daughter’s recuperation.”
“Since Mr. Gu also has important matters to discuss with Doctor Xie, I naturally won’t say anything. After all, the patient is the priority. Please, Doctor Xie,” Wei Yi Dong said understandingly, nodding without making things difficult.
Thus, the two who originally planned to go for a walk were abruptly interrupted by Xiu Jin Gu, and Qing Tang Xie followed him back to the Gu family villa.
“Tell Doctor Xie about all the medicinal meals I’ve eaten these past few days,” Gu Xiu Jin said directly to the butler upon arriving home.
The butler paused for a moment, then immediately understood and went to the kitchen to retrieve the list of medicinal dishes Gu Xiu Jin had consumed over the past few days.
When Qing Tang Xie saw the lengthy list, her eyes widened in astonishment. She turned to Gu Xiu Jin and said, “Are you a pig? In just three short days, you’ve eaten eighty-nine medicinal dishes. How did you manage to consume that much?”
Gu Xiu Jin’s expression remained unchanged as he replied calmly, “I only took a little taste of each dish; I didn’t eat everything.”
“Gu Xiu Jin, you’re truly strange. Fine, I’ll go through each dish one by one,” Qing Tang Xie sighed and began meticulously examining the list, asking the chef in detail which medicinal herbs were used in each dish.
If any herbs in the chef’s preparations conflicted with the prescription she had given, then the consumption of those medicinal meals had to be stopped immediately.
An hour passed, then two. Qing Tang Xie’s gaze grew somewhat unfocused as she carefully questioned every dish on the list. She discovered that nearly a dozen of the medicinal meals were unsuitable for Gu Xiu Jin.
“Luckily, you’re picky and only take a bite or two of each dish; it probably hasn’t affected you too much. But from now on, never eat medicinal meals casually. If you want to eat them, you must inform me in advance, understand?” Qing Tang Xie warned him.
Hearing her rare words of concern, Gu Xiu Jin’s expression flickered briefly before he quietly acknowledged with a faint “hm.”

“It’s getting late; I’ll be going now,” Qing Tang Xie glanced at her watch and was startled to realize she had spent over three hours at Gu Xiu Jin’s place. It was nearly midnight, and her grandfather was likely still waiting for her at Canshan Hall. She wanted to leave immediately.
As she stood up, her stomach suddenly rumbled. She had been so engrossed in talking with Wei Yi Dong that she hadn’t eaten much, and after expending so much energy, her hunger was quite natural.
Just then, Gu Xiu Jin beckoned, and the butler promptly brought over a food box, placing it in Qing Tang Xie’s hands. “This is a medicinal meal specially prepared by the kitchen at Mr. Gu’s request. I don’t know how well it’s made. Doctor Xie is an expert in this field—why not take it back and try it?”
“Is that so? Very well, I’ll reluctantly take it back and try it,” Qing Tang Xie said, opening the box. The aroma and appearance of the medicinal dishes made her lips instinctively lick themselves as she accepted the box.
Li Zhao accompanied her back to Canshan Hall. Qing Tang Xie opened the box and shared the medicinal dishes with her still-awake grandfather and the others.
“Next time, don’t give her such a long list,” Li Zhao remarked as he returned to the Gu family villa after seeing Qing Tang Xie off.
Gu Xiu Jin glanced at the butler beside him and said, “Doctor Xie is a conscientious and meticulous person. I’m afraid if it’s not done properly, she will doubt it.”
“But eating eighty-nine medicinal dishes in three days is just ridiculous. If Doctor Xie weren’t so naive, she probably wouldn’t have believed it,” Li Zhao muttered.
Gu Xiu Jin cast him a sharp glance, and Li Zhao immediately shut his mouth.
Morning sunlight filtered through the branches of the large trees in the backyard of Canshan Hall, casting dappled light upon the bluestone path. Qing Tang Xie stretched lazily and stepped out of her room, saying to her grandfather, “Grandfather, today I’ll go out and buy some nourishing herbs to help expel some toxins from your body.”
“All right, I understand. Be careful when you go out,” her grandfather said. Qing Tang Xie knew he was warning her about Shao Siming, so she nodded.
Having temporarily entrusted the affairs of Canshan Hall to Song Qing and Zhou Jinfan, Qing Tang Xie finally had a moment to breathe. She headed to a high-end medicinal herb market—not a wholesale market, but a place specializing in rare herbs like ginseng and deer antler.

Inside, there were few people, mostly elderly traditional Chinese medicine practitioners selecting the right herbs.
Thus, when Qing Tang Xie, a young and beautiful girl with a calm demeanor, entered this prestigious herbal market, she immediately drew everyone’s attention.
“That young lady looks so familiar. Isn’t she the miraculous doctor from Canshan Hall who’s recently become popular online?”
“Miraculous doctor? A young girl like that dares to call herself a miracle healer? It’s just that some uninformed netizens have hyped her up.”
“Just a publicity stunt.”
At that moment, a harsh voice suddenly sounded near Qing Tangie’s ear, causing her to furrow her brows and stop in her tracks.
Turning to look, she saw an elderly man holding a ginseng root, examining it closely. Although he wasn’t looking directly at her, the disparaging words had come from him.
“Excuse me, sir, were you referring to me just now?” Qing Tang Xie approached him politely.
The old man’s eyes twinkled; his hair and beard were already white, giving him the appearance of an ancient sage, yet his words were sharp and cutting: “Yes, I’m talking about you. Such a young age and yet you don’t know how to study properly. Instead, you learn only those flashy tricks young people use to attract attention.”
“You only know a little bit about traditional Chinese medicine and hire a few actors, then call yourself a miraculous doctor online. It’s ridiculous and shameless.”
When he finished speaking, everyone around gasped in shock. No one expected this white-haired elder to speak so venomously about Qing Tang Xie.
