Chapter 79: Terrifying Campus, Sunshine Doll (17)
“Wait a moment.” Tang Mu suddenly spoke.
The monsters’ retreating figures froze instantly.
Especially the one at the front, “Liu Yuanming,” who turned back with trembling fear, his face deathly pale as he asked Tang Mu, “Is there anything else you wish to instruct, Big Sister Tang?”
“Oh, nothing much,” Tang Mu replied casually. “Just remember to close the door behind you when you leave.”
Hearing this, “Liu Yuanming’s” expression brightened immediately. “Alright, understood!”
With that, the monsters led by “Liu Yuanming” bolted away as if wild beasts were on their tails.
Only after these monsters had left did Jing You dare to swallow the saliva she’d been holding in her mouth for so long, and nervously approach Tang Mu.
“So… does that mean the monsters won’t attack us again tonight?”
“They probably won’t,” Tang Mu answered, her tone indifferent.
Then, with equal nonchalance, she glanced at Jing You. “For the rest of the night, you’d best not disturb me. Otherwise, you’ll regret it.”
Faced with such a blatant threat from Tang Mu, Jing You didn’t get angry. On the contrary, she felt she ought to cling tightly to Tang Mu’s coattails.
This was a living Buddha!
She nodded her head so vigorously it was like a rattle-drum, expressing her absolute obedience to Tang Mu’s wishes. She sealed her lips tightly, determined not to make even the slightest noise.
Having thoroughly put Jing You in her place, Tang Mu was quite satisfied.
Tang Mu sat on the bed, borrowing the abilities of “Tang Mu” to search this timeline for the movements of others.
She searched for a long while before finally locating Yan Xingwen.
At that moment, Yan Xingwen was bathing in his washroom.
Steam swirled thickly, veiling the air in a smoky haze. Clear droplets fell steadily from a simple showerhead, tracing over his sturdy, tanned shoulders—shoulders that exuded an alluring masculine charm.
But below…
Below, everything was censored.
Staring at the blocks of mosaic, Tang Mu couldn’t help but frown. She wanted to wipe the censorship away with her finger and silently complained about what a useless perspective this was—how excessively reserved!
Then, within the vision, the image of young Tang Mu appeared.
This was her past self.
Young Tang Mu was furious!
Her once delicate, refined face now bore a wild, unruly air. She kicked at the washroom door with loud thuds, her mouth unleashing a string of curses.
“You said last time you’d teach me to shoot! How many months has it been now? I haven’t touched a gun; all you do is drag me off to watch flower arranging and tea ceremonies. What, you think someone like me is still salvageable?”
“I’ve told you a thousand times—I want power! Power! Do you understand? As long as I can be stronger than others, I don’t care by what means I get any ability I want!”
Hearing the loud kicking at the door, Yan Xingwen sighed in exasperation.
He hurried through his shower, shut off the water, and dried himself with a towel before getting dressed.
Then he opened the door.
Young Tang Mu’s foot hadn’t yet withdrawn from its kick. With the door suddenly opened, she lost her balance and nearly fell into contact with some part of him.
If Yan Xingwen hadn’t acted swiftly to grab her by the collar, the little girl would surely have met the slippery floor in an undignified sprawl.
But the little girl grew even angrier.
She believed Yan Xingwen had deliberately opened the door to embarrass her while she was off-guard!
“You! You did that on purpose, damn it!”
“Swearing again?” Yan Xingwen muttered helplessly. “I’ve had you watching flower arranging videos and listening to Buddhist chants for months, yet your temper’s still so fiery?”
Before young Tang Mu could curse even more colorfully, Yan Xingwen interjected.
“I know you want power. But I’ve told you: until you can train yourself to be calm and even-tempered, I won’t teach you anything.”
“Because whatever you wish to possess or master, you first need to understand what love is. If there’s no love in your heart, you’ll only ever see darkness in all things, never experiencing the light.”
Love?
Young Tang Mu rolled her eyes hard at Yan Xingwen.
“Are you out of your mind?”
She honestly thought the man before her had something wrong in his head.
“You’re a grown-up, yet you still believe in something as vague and laughable as ‘love’?”
This subject actually made young Tang Mu somewhat angry.
“I used to believe in it too. But what did it ever give me in return? When I was covered in mud and misery, no one saved me! I clawed my own way out of the mire, step by step! From beginning to end, it was always my own strength I relied on! I trust no one but myself!”
“That includes you!”
After calling Yan Xingwen “crazy,” young Tang Mu kicked open the washroom door and made to leave. She had no intention of wasting any more time with Yan Xingwen.
“If you won’t teach me, then don’t ever bother teaching me again. These last few months were a total waste on a pig!”
Seeing young Tang Mu about to storm out in anger, Yan Xingwen sighed.
“Don’t you want to learn to shoot? Come on, I’ll take you to the club now.”
He was still in pajamas, so he had to change into proper clothes before they went out.
Meanwhile, young Tang Mu eyed him with suspicion, as if calculating whether Yan Xingwen was trying to play her for a fool again.
Watching her scheming, crafty little face, Yan Xingwen couldn’t help but knock her lightly on the head.
“This time it’s real—I’m not messing with you.”
But young Tang Mu still didn’t quite believe him.
Only when she saw Yan Xingwen change, retrieve his shooting club access card, and prepare to leave did she let down her guard a little.
The club was indoors.
The walls were painted a pale pink and white.
Artificial turf covered the floor. The targets were sliding boards over a meter high, with scoring rings from bullseye out to 9, 8, 7, and 6. No one could cross the chains into the target area. On the wall outside the range hung an array of small-caliber guns of all kinds.
Young Tang Mu picked at random and chose a straight-pull long-barreled hunting rifle.
But before she could even warm her hands on it, Yan Xingwen confiscated the rifle and forcibly replaced it with a Type 6-4 pistol.
Young Tang Mu stared at the petite weapon in her palm, clearly ten times smaller and lighter than the hunting rifle, suppressing the urge to roll her eyes as she asked Yan Xingwen why he’d made her switch to such a puny thing.
“Because the Type 6-4 pistol is accurate, compact, lightweight, low-powered, and has little recoil,” he replied nonchalantly.
His tone made young Tang Mu grind her teeth in frustration.
“You’re a beginner. You don’t need anything too powerful for now. Otherwise, the moment you fire, the recoil would send you flying.”
He was right about that.
A high-powered rifle could overwhelm even an adult, let alone young Tang Mu, who was not yet thirteen.
