Chapter Ninety-Four: Decision Made
The few of them chatted for a long while after Gu Zhiheng left.
Liu E did not say much about his identity being exposed. After all, the fault in the past had indeed been theirs.
Since Gu Zhiheng had laid everything out in the open, it meant he was not going to dwell on what had happened before. He was giving them a choice.
Besides, they had not been the main participants in that matter. They still had a chance to make amends.
“However you choose, I’m going with him. That’s also what my family elder wants, and it’s what I want to do anyway,” Liu E said first, glancing at the others.
“I agree too. I raised the child myself, so of course I’ll keep following him,” Chu Xingran said without hesitation. She had always thought this way.
Mo Han nodded as well. Whatever Chu Xingran did, he would do. As long as he stayed by her side, anything was fine.
Chen Yuan did not even need to be asked. She had been brought up by her master from the start, so of course she would choose to follow Gu Zhiheng, because Gu Zhiheng was her master.
For a choice this simple, Chen Yuan would always choose her master, and everything related to her master.
That left only Chu Zhaoting. His expression was pained, and for a moment he truly could not decide.
On one side were his family. On the other was the wrong that had been committed long ago. He genuinely did not know what to choose.
Should he choose his family and go on living in such muddled confusion, or choose Gu Zhiheng and make up for the things his family had once done wrong, so that everything might end well?
“Chu Zhaoting, think carefully before you speak. If you choose that group of people, then you and I will never be reconciled in this lifetime!” Seeing his hesitation, Chu Xingran slammed a hand on the table and glared at Chu Zhaoting in anger.
She understood the selfishness of the Chu family, because she had come from the Chu family herself. Even her nature was the same.
But when it came to this sort of matter, she had never been one to waver. She would not regret her choice either.
Following her own heart had always been her principle; following the truth had always been her bottom line.
On matters like this, she would always stand on the right side.
“All right. I’ll make the same choice as you. I’m willing to follow him too,” Chu Zhaoting said at last, as though he had made up his mind after a great struggle.
“Don’t regret it, and don’t back out halfway. You absolutely must not give up before the very end.” Afraid that Chu Zhaoting might change his mind, Chu Xingran looked him straight in the eyes and said earnestly.
She would not allow anyone to betray Gu Zhiheng. No one could. Otherwise, she would not mind killing the traitor with her own hands.
Since everyone had decided, let’s go back,” Liu E said, sweeping his gaze across the group. As expected, these were people chosen by that man.
A discerning eye, ruthless and decisive, truly beyond the reach of ordinary people.
The few of them stood up and drove back to the Jicheng Grand Hotel.
When they returned, Gu Zhiheng was sitting on the sofa watching television, the volume turned very low. Beside him sat a little girl of five or six.
The group was stunned once again. What was this now? Where had this child come from?
What kind of constitution did Gu Zhiheng have, to be so irresistible to children?
“Let me introduce her. This is Ye Zheng’s little disciple, Qing Xiu,” Gu Zhiheng said, turning back to glance at them and introducing the little girl sitting beside him as she watched television.
Coincidentally, this child was the little girl who had sold him flowers last time.
As for the things Gu Zhiheng knew, some had been told to him by the girl, and some were memories that had suddenly appeared in his mind.
“Q-Qing Xiu?” The others were once again dumbfounded. What in the world was this?
They had only come to Jiacheng, so how had people who were long dead all come back to life? Was this world really this miraculous?
“M-Miss? It really is you?” Chen Yuan pushed past the others and came to Qing Xiu’s side, examining her carefully several times.
No mistake about it. This really was the master’s little disciple. It was her young lady.
“Little Earthworm, long time no see. You’ve become so pretty,” the little girl said sweetly. Her voice was soft and cute, and she herself looked adorably delicate.
“Waaah, it really is you. Do you know I thought you were dead? I cried for so long!” Chen Yuan hugged Qing Xiu and cried so hard that her whole body shook.
Gu Zhiheng watched from the side with a cold eye. Lately, he had truly become more and more expressionless, as if everything he had learned had been forgotten again.
“All right, stop crying so dramatically. You’ve turned yourself ugly!” Though his mouth was full of disgust at how ugly their crying looked, he still very naturally handed over a tissue.
As soon as his hand went out, Gu Zhiheng felt a little regret. He did not know whether he regretted scolding the two of them or regretted handing them the tissue.
But there were quite a few people here now, and it was time to get down to business.
“Ah Heng, we’ve all decided. We’ll keep following you,” Mo Han said with a somewhat forced smile, patting Gu Zhiheng on the shoulder.
Inside, he was cursing Gu Zhiheng to the heavens. He had been his rival in love before, and he was still his rival in love now. He was simply too detestable.
And now things were even worse. He had to work for his rival because of his own woman. There was nothing more stifling in this world.
“Mm. The dinner tonight wasn’t wasted, after all. It cost me more than twenty thousand,” Gu Zhiheng said leisurely.
The five people who had just eaten dinner all turned dark at once.
Was it too late to take back what they had just said?
This bastard was just asking to be beaten. Could they beat him first before considering anything else?
“Qing Xiu, you sleep with Chen Yuan tonight. After all, she’s the one you dug out of the dirt,” Gu Zhiheng said, giving Qing Xiu a somewhat disgusted look before glancing at Chen Yuan as well.
What strange creatures these were.
One was a grass carp from a little river, and the other was an earthworm. It was simply absurd.
Had Ye Zheng been so bored back then that grass had grown on his head, to actually take in a fish as a disciple? And this disciple was someone who liked digging earthworms out of the soil!
Digging up earthworms was bad enough, but she even threatened her master every day, demanding help feeding them. This world was truly too terrifying.
“Master, I used to sleep with you. Can’t I anymore?” Qing Xiu did not quite understand why her master no longer liked her.
Was it because she had become ugly?
Or because of last time, when she sold him flowers but did not recognize him, and that had made him angry?
“Men and women should not be too familiar. Go sleep with your little Earthworm. Don’t be disobedient, or I’ll throw you out!” The child was only cute to look at; nothing she did was cute at all.
Seeing Gu Zhiheng’s face darken, Qing Xiu obediently hooked her arms around Chen Yuan’s neck. Her little Earthworm was still the best.
“Chen Yuan baby, let’s go to sleep. Master is such a big bad guy that he doesn’t like me anymore.” Hmph. She had her little Earthworm now; she did not want her master anymore.
Hearing the child’s words, Gu Zhiheng nearly spat blood. He was only twenty-three, and this little thing seemed to be six hundred years old already.
