Chapter Ninety-Five: Green Embroidery Turned Out to Be a Master (1)
Qingxiu did not take Gu Zhiheng’s disdain to heart at all. She had long since grown used to it.
When her master first took her in as a disciple, he had scorned her for being foolish every day, and threatened her every day as well: if she did not cultivate properly, he would turn her into roasted fish and eat her.
He also mocked her constantly, saying she was so full she had nothing better to do, that instead of cultivating she spent all day in the bamboo grove digging up earthworms.
Qingxiu had heard such complaints for decades, so she had stopped caring about them long ago.
Though her master had grown young again and lived another life, his mouth was still as venomous as ever, and his tongue just as sharp.
"My little Chenyuan, how can you be so beautiful? I can hardly bear to eat you now."
Rubbing herself against Chenyuan in his arms, Qingxiu said pitifully.
On the other bed, Chu Xingran twitched at the corner of her mouth as she listened. Was this child raising Chenyuan just to fatten her up for a meal?
"Eat me? You dug me out and called me master just to raise me and then eat me?" Good heavens, what had she just heard? Could there be anything more heartbreaking than this?
Wuwu, so in the end she had been the one who misjudged everything.
In the end, she had carried it all alone; it was she who was unworthy of their tenderness.
No wonder Gu Zhiheng’s expression had been so wrong when he learned she was an earthworm. Looking back, he must have been thinking of something then.
"Don’t be sad. You’re so beautiful now that I won’t eat you." After kissing Chenyuan once, Qingxiu hugged her arm and began to doze off.
She had not rested properly in a very long time. A few days ago, the old grandmother who had taken her in had passed away. After the funeral, her grandfather had driven her out of the house.
To make a living, she had gone out to the streets to sell flowers. When she met Gu Zhiheng, she had not dared to acknowledge him, because they had not seen each other for a very long time, and her master had not recognized him either.
If she had not sensed her master in danger today, she still would not have dared to appear before him. Thankfully, her master had kept her.
Sleeping in Chenyuan’s arms, she rested very soundly, even smiling sweetly in her sleep.
In the past, it had always been her master holding her as she slept, and she had always felt safe.
Later, because she kept digging up earthworms, her master sent her to the bedroom next door, saying she was too disgusting and that he did not want to lie in bed with someone who spent her time digging earthworms.
After that, the Gu family joined forces with the others in rebellion. To save Chenyuan, she had accidentally gotten into an accident.
If she had not happened to fall into the little river where she had always lived, she would probably have died already.
"This one’s quite interesting. And you’re pretty funny too, hahahahaha."
Looking at the fish and the earthworm curled up together, no matter how she looked at them, the sight was strangely hilarious.
Chu Xingran was too embarrassed to laugh too loudly. She covered her mouth and shook with laughter, while Chenyuan’s face darkened at the sight.
She had to endure it. She had chosen these sisters herself, so no matter how absurd they were, she had to endure them.
"I’m not mocking you anymore. Get some rest early. Gu Zhiheng says he has something to do tomorrow." After wishing each other good night, the two of them went to sleep as well.
In the room next door, Gu Zhiheng looked at Liu E, who was covered in injuries, and grew irritated. This fellow was truly more hindrance than help.
He had simply told him to deliver a jade token. Getting beaten up was one thing, but he had even dragged Chenyuan into it. How could he be so stupid?
Wasn’t this so-called old acquaintance supposed to teach him how to behave? In the end, the old acquaintance himself could not even handle the simplest human affairs. At this rate, could he really teach anyone?
"Liu E, I do not like that sort of thing. Get lost."
As soon as he finished speaking, he kicked the person beside his bed straight down.
"Sleep early. I’ve found an expert to guide you. For the next while, just focus on your cultivation." Frowning, he looked at Liu E in front of him with clear displeasure.
He tossed out a pillow, then lay back down and ignored the resentful eyes fixed upon him.
Half the night had already passed. He needed proper rest so he would have the energy to watch the show tomorrow.
Usually it was always others watching him get beaten. Tomorrow, it would be his turn to watch someone else get beaten.
Today’s weather was truly wonderful, perfect for lounging around and watching the drama.
On the training field of the Bureau, Gu Zhiheng lay in a rocking chair, swaying lazily back and forth, looking wonderfully at ease.
Beside him, Qingxiu thoughtfully fanned him and occasionally offered him tea. Life could not have been more comfortable.
"All right, since you’re ready, let’s begin."
He smiled with a trace of wicked charm and glanced at Qingxiu, who was fanning him.
That little thing was not really little at all.
"As long as no one dies, beat them as hard as you can. Let them properly experience the feeling of losing their lives." If they wanted to grow, they had to taste death a few times first.
That was how he had grown as well. This method suited all of them, because none of them were ordinary people.
"Good girl, Qingxiu. No holding back, or I’ll spar with you myself."
Gu Zhiheng gave Qingxiu, who seemed tempted to go easy on them, a warning without the slightest hesitation.
"Yes, Master. I absolutely will not hold back."
Qingxiu nodded and looked at the others, who were all stunned and confused.
Today she could finally stretch her limbs properly. She only hoped they could endure her full-force attacks.
They began one by one, and Qingxiu chose Liu E first, because she simply did not like the look of him.
"You. Come here and begin."
Before Liu E could even speak, Qingxiu’s attack had already reached him.
Gu Zhiheng watched with great interest. At first he had been lying down, but now he had even sat up.
The little girl was good. Her style was ruthless, every move aimed to kill.
"You lot should watch as well. See how Qingxiu attacks, and then think about how you would respond if you were the ones facing it." Gu Zhiheng said this lightly, then rose and walked toward the car parked not far away.
So boring. Better have a couple of bites first. There seemed to be a watermelon in the car too.
He might as well be a proper bystander and enjoy the show. Later, he would even record it on his phone so they could look back and study it carefully. Only then would they better recognize their own shortcomings.
"Don’t look so half-dead. If you don’t watch carefully, just wait for Qingxiu to eat you for a snack."
He slapped Chenyuan once and told her to pay attention instead of looking so listless.
He was doing it for their own good. In the past, when he had the lowest cultivation, they had treated him the same way.
Now that their cultivation was inferior to his, he could only repay them in kind.
"See that? She always opens with a left hook. Her right leg has clearly less power than her left, so her strength is weaker on that side."
He took a bite of watermelon and did not forget to explain a few things to Chenyuan.
"Look at Liu E. His strikes are indeed vicious, but his footwork is weak. Once he kicks, the damage is not that great."
After introducing Qingxiu, he did not forget to comment on Liu E as well.
"Mm, that one was good. Liu E really could not block it. His attack speed is just too slow."
He took another mouthful of watermelon. It really was excellent.
He loved this kind of life. It could hardly be better.
"Turn more quickly, by another second. The angle of that punch is wrong; he’s about to get hit in the face."
With a sharp smack, everything Gu Zhiheng said was exactly right.
Chu Xingran and the others stared at him in shock. Was this still the Gu Zhiheng they knew?
How had he become this formidable? Why could he see flaws they themselves could not even detect?
Even more terrifying, Gu Zhiheng could predict Qingxiu’s and Liu E’s attack patterns, down to the very timing. That was far too frightening.
If they ever faced Gu Zhiheng, would they be like children in his eyes, unable to escape no matter what they did?
