Chapter 65: Did He Bully You?
The little beast still clung tightly to Ji Tianxin’s shoulder, unmoving. In the blink of an eye, the two people and the beast vanished before the crowd’s eyes.
“Quick! After them!” came the urgent command, and all factions immediately began their search and pursuit.
Si Han, carrying Ji Tianxin, finally landed in a deserted spot. He hadn’t even caught his breath when a dangerous force surged straight toward him. Shocked, he found himself unable to dodge its approach. When the energy struck his shoulder, even though he tried to hold onto Ji Tianxin, he lost control and let her slip from his grasp.
“Girl!” he shouted, as his body was blasted away by the force.
However, just as Ji Tianxin fell from the air, someone caught her effortlessly at the waist. Ji Tianxin felt as if she were a ball being tossed from one person to another.
She looked up at the person who held her with one arm. Her clear, bright eyes blinked.
Half of his face was obscured by a silver mask, stark against the deep black of his robes. His long, dark hair was loose, cascading behind him like fine silk, accentuating the paleness of his skin beneath the mask. The mask glinted coldly, lips pressed in a slight line, as if containing a trace of anger.
“Did he bully you?” he asked.
Si Han pressed a hand to his shoulder and stood up, his gaze fixed on the man in black before him. Judging by his voice, he seemed about the same age.
But how could he possess such profound cultivation?
Who was this youth?
Si Han had been praised as a genius since childhood, recognized as a rare martial talent among his peers, even carrying some pride as a favored child of the heavens. Yet the power unleashed by the masked youth’s earlier strike had left him helpless to resist.
The furry black creature clung tightly to Ji Tianxin’s shoulder, but judging by its eyes, it feared Ji Tianxin far more than the man in the silver mask.
Ji Tianxin was small, and when held in the masked youth’s arms, the sight seemed perfectly natural—like cradling a child.
Ji Tianxin shook her head, “No.”
Upon hearing this, the masked youth’s tightly pressed lips relaxed slightly, and the fierce look in his eyes toward Si Han faded.
“Who are you?” Si Han demanded, his voice deep.
The masked youth’s lips curled lightly. “That doesn’t seem to concern you.”
Si Han frowned, then glanced at Ji Tianxin. Seeing no resistance from her, he surmised she might know this youth—perhaps a relative from her family.
Maybe a formidable elder from her clan. The continent of Tianwu was rife with powerful figures; perhaps there were masters he had never even heard of.
Though he didn’t much like the masked youth, he felt reassured. He had acted earlier thinking the youth might have abducted the girl, but at least she was safe now.
He smiled, his eyes fixed on Ji Tianxin. “Girl, since your family has found you, I’ll take my leave.”
He dared not linger. If those people recognized him, it would be troublesome.
Ji Tianxin looked at Si Han, “Do you want it?”
As she spoke, the little beast on her shoulder was flicked away by the masked youth’s finger. The tiny black ball tumbled to the ground, then rolled and bared its teeth at the masked youth.
But the masked youth merely cast it a cold, sidelong glance.
