Chapter 36: Such Tremendous Destructive Power!
Su Qing’s eyes grew cold, a trace of severity flashing in her gaze. A long whip slid into her palm, which she gripped tightly without a word, leaping forward to engage Ji Yuanruo in combat.
Ji Yuanruo had trained in martial arts since childhood, and at only sixteen, he had already reached the second tier of marrow cleansing. Among his peers, he was considered an outstanding prodigy. He naturally paid little mind to Su Qing, the young maid who was even younger than he.
It was only when the powerful aura of a true martial artist burst forth from Su Qing that he was taken aback. But he had no time to think; all he could do was retaliate and charge forward.
The two of them quickly clashed in the courtyard, and no one dared attempt to intervene. More accurately, there was no one who could. No one dared approach this courtyard.
Ji Yuanruo was no match for Su Qing and was quickly forced back by a stroke of her whip. Yet the murderous intent burning in him drove him to lunge at her once again.
At this moment, Ji Huaili, having just dealt with matters concerning the Chen family and still steeped in the grief of his wife’s passing and pondering how to answer to the Chens, was interrupted by a servant’s urgent report.
“General! General, something terrible has happened! The young master has gone to the South Courtyard! They say he immediately started fighting with Miss Tianxin’s maid!” The servant practically tumbled in from outside.
Ji Huaili’s expression darkened instantly. “What? He went to the South Courtyard?” Ji Huaili shouted in anger, “Didn’t I tell you to keep an eye on him? No one was to let them near the South Courtyard!”
“The young master... we couldn’t stop him...” The servant was nearly in tears.
Ji Huaili threw down the wolf-hair brush in his hand and strode quickly toward the South Courtyard. “And someone—go inform the Old Master at once!” he ordered as he walked.
“Yes, sir!”
Ji Huaili was truly afraid that Ji Yuanruo would provoke that living demon and only bring disaster upon himself. Most importantly, with that child’s ruthlessly cruel methods, if Yuanruo truly angered her...
Would his proud son not meet his end at her hands as well?
With this thought, he quickened his pace, heading swiftly toward Ji Tianxin’s quarters in the South Courtyard.
“If you know what’s good for you, leave now. Otherwise, don’t blame me for showing no mercy,” Su Qing said in a low, steady voice.
Ji Yuanruo had never expected that even this maid possessed such profound martial skills! At her age, her mastery of the whip was nearly supernatural—unbelievable!
In truth, not even Bai Shu or Su Qing herself would have thought it possible years ago. Several years back, Su Qing had merely been an ordinary child brought home by Ji Tianxin. Yet in just a few short years, she had become a martial prodigy who would be considered a genius in any family.
Su Qing’s natural talent was, in fact, quite average. As Bai Shu often remarked, Su Qing’s current abilities were purely the result of Ji Tianxin’s relentless feeding of elixirs. The maid’s treatment was on par with, if not superior to, the sons and daughters of major sects and great clans.
“Damn it...” Ji Yuanruo gritted his teeth. “Even if it kills me today, I’ll have your lives in payment for my mother’s!”
“So noisy...” Ji Tianxin’s brows knitted in irritation, her eyes still closed. With a casual wave of her delicate hand, a violent gale suddenly swept through the courtyard, sending everything flying and crashing hard to the ground. Even the flowers and plants looked ravaged and battered in the aftermath.
Such overwhelming destructive force!
Ji Yuanruo and Su Qing both stopped at once, for the wind had hurled them backwards several yards.
