Chapter Seventy-Seven: Blood Oath Alliance
Lin Yi’s eyes grew cold. He reached out, and the three cold iron arrows were seized by an invisible hand, held fast without a hint of movement.
The shadowy figure in the distance was instantly aghast. “Wasn’t he just an ordinary man? How can he be so… uncanny?”
Born with great strength, the shadow had drawn his bow to its fullest; the cold iron arrows he shot were so formidable that even those at the fifth or sixth innate stage would not dare catch them barehanded.
Yet Lin Yi, according to his file, was a mere ordinary man. Not only did he catch the arrows, he snapped them easily.
Something was wrong.
The intelligence was flawed.
The shadow realized this quickly. When his gaze sought Lin Yi again, there was no trace of him.
“Where is he?”
His heart skipped a beat. At that moment, a voice sounded behind him.
“Who sent you?”
He spun around to find, at some unknown moment, a figure standing behind him—Lin Yi.
“Number Three, Four, Five…”
The shadow hastily called out for help, but there was only silence. Clearly, his companions had already met their fate.
“No need to shout. You’re the last one.” Lin Yi spoke quietly.
He had deliberately left one alive, intending to find the mastermind behind the attack.
“What… what do you want from me?”
The man in black feigned terror, but a glint of malice flashed in his eyes.
Suddenly, both arms raised, and two sleeve darts ripped through the air toward Lin Yi.
These sleeve darts were his specially crafted concealed weapons, laced with deadly poison. Even masters at the ninth innate stage would perish if caught off guard. He had survived death more than once relying on these.
Swish.
The darts shot at Lin Yi’s left and right chest.
Yet—clang, clang, clang—the darts struck Lin Yi, as if hitting a steel plate, and bounced away instantly.
“This… this…”
The man’s pupils contracted sharply. He turned to flee.
But just as he took a step, a fist crashed into his face, sending him flying.
“Tell me, did Wu Fangling send you?” Lin Yi gazed at him and asked.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
He still tried to deny it.
Lin Yi shook his head, and with a single finger to the man’s brow, his powerful spiritual sense rifled through the man’s memories.
From those memories, Lin Yi learned their organization was called the Blood Oath Alliance, specializing in assassination and intelligence gathering, based in the United States.
Over the past twenty years, they had gradually infiltrated more than a dozen provinces in Yanxia.
The Shansheng branch of the Blood Oath Alliance was controlled by Wu Fangling and Jia Yueyu.
However, the man’s memory held no specifics about their locations; orders were always relayed through others.
Lin Yi was not disappointed. Now that he had narrowed down the whereabouts of Wu Fangling and Jia Yueyu, he could find a way to flush them out.
“Colluding with foreign enemies, murdering your master, harming your fellow disciples—you two deserve death.”
Lin Yi waved his arm, and a burst of violet pill fire reduced the man in black to ashes.
Then, Lin Yi called Zhang Tianfang, instructing him to search the Shansheng region with full force for Wu Fangling and Jia Yueyu.
After hanging up, Lin Yi returned home.
…
Meanwhile—
With Lin Yi’s single phone call, the Zhang family mobilized swiftly.
“Dad, what did Mr. Lin tell you just now?” Zhang Xinyi asked curiously.
“Mr. Lin wants me to find two people, and investigate the location of the Blood Oath Alliance branch in Shansheng,” Zhang Tianfang replied, not hiding much from his beloved daughter.
After all, during the recent resource battle, if not for his daughter bringing Mr. Lin into the fold, how could the Zhang family have become the top clan in Shansheng?
“The Blood Oath Alliance?” Zhang Xinyi was puzzled.
“It’s a transnational assassin organization. As long as you have money, whether it’s an innate master or a half-step grandmaster, they can carry out the kill,” Zhang Tianfang explained.
“So formidable?” Zhang Xinyi was a bit surprised.
Below the grandmaster level, the highest combat strength was the half-step grandmaster. Most families had only two or three of them, and yet the Blood Oath Alliance could assassinate them—an impressive feat.
“Dad, if Mr. Lin wants you to investigate the Blood Oath Alliance, does it mean they received a contract to assassinate him?” Zhang Xinyi guessed.
“That’s possible.” Zhang Tianfang’s gaze grew a shade more serious.
Zhang Xinyi couldn’t help but smile. This time, it seemed the Blood Oath Alliance was doomed.
No one truly knew how strong Lin Yi was; even an old grandmaster like Qiao Weiliang was defeated in just a few moves.
…
Elsewhere—
Wu Fangling frowned, her phone repeatedly echoing, “The number you dialed is powered off.”
“Sister, what’s wrong?” Jia Yueyu asked, peeling an apple.
“The people we sent have all gone silent,” Wu Fangling replied.
The smile vanished from Jia Yueyu’s face. For caution’s sake, they had sent three at the seventh innate stage and one at the eighth.
Such strength could sweep through any small city.
Now, with not a single word back, it was likely their operatives had been killed.
“Sister, do you think it could be Xiong Jinghui’s doing?” Jia Yueyu asked.
Wu Fangling shook her head. “I don’t think so. My subordinates said that woman took an arrow to the abdomen, she shouldn’t recover so quickly.”
“Besides, the people we sent were strong. Even if they couldn’t kill Xiong Jinghui one-on-one, escaping should have been possible.”
“But now, they didn’t even manage to flee. It seems there really is a master at Xiong Jinghui and Li Xiaonan’s side.”
After hearing Wu Fangling’s analysis, Jia Yueyu spoke, a little frustrated: “Sister, should we handle this ourselves?”
Wu Fangling remained calm. “Let’s not rush. We know nothing about the master at Xiong Jinghui’s side. If he’s a grandmaster, we could be in for a nasty surprise.”
“What should we do then? We can’t just watch Li Xiaonan slip away.” Jia Yueyu replied, voice deep.
Li Xiaonan, being Miao Caifeng’s favorite disciple, likely carried her entire legacy.
Aside from the advanced techniques, what most drew their attention was the method for maintaining beauty.
Miao Caifeng was nearly seventy, yet her skin and figure were like an eighteen-year-old girl.
All women love beauty—certainly, they were no exception.
Wu Fangling smiled. “Soon, three grandmaster elders will arrive at our branch. By then, no matter how strong Li Xiaonan’s protector is, she’ll be meat on our chopping block.”
“Why are so many grandmasters suddenly coming? Will it affect our plans?” Jia Yueyu asked, a bit worried.
Regarding the matter of the mineral vein, they had no intention of letting others in on it—fortune was best kept to themselves.
Their membership in the Blood Oath Alliance was simply for more cultivation resources.
“Don’t worry,” Wu Fangling assured her.
…
The next day—
As Lin Yi arrived at Yang Yujia’s neighborhood, a white BMW stopped before him.
Inside sat Sun Wenlong, whom Lin Yi had seen at the hospital last time. Beside him sat a seductive woman.
“Do you need something?” Lin Yi asked calmly.
Sun Wenlong got out, the woman clinging to his arm in an intimate manner that made their relationship obvious.
“Kid, you were pretty arrogant at the hospital last time.”
Sun Wenlong lit a cigarette, smiling slyly.
Lin Yi had no interest in people like him and simply walked around Sun Wenlong.
Sun Wenlong’s face darkened. With the cigarette dangling from his lips, he clapped his hands forcefully.
Vroom, vroom, vroom—
Suddenly, motorcycles swarmed from all directions.
Each bike carried two young men, bodies adorned with tattoos, clearly not people to mess with.
The bikers surrounded Lin Yi. Bystanders stepped back, fearful of getting caught up in the trouble.
“Well, kid, still feeling cocky?”
Sun Wenlong wrapped his arm around the seductive woman’s waist and looked at Lin Yi with arrogant disdain.
Lin Yi was silent.
Sun Wenlong assumed Lin Yi was afraid and grew even more smug. He pointed to a nearby alley. “Let’s go. We’ll talk over there.”
After returning from the hospital last time, Sun Wenlong had spent a fortune investigating Lin Yi’s background.
He discovered Lin Yi was just an ordinary college student, with nothing but a pretty sister—no background at all.
Lin Yi said expressionlessly, “Move aside.”
“Heh, kid, you’d better come with me. Otherwise, I’ll make sure you can’t survive in all of Jiang Province. Don’t doubt what I say.” Sun Wenlong grinned.
The seductive woman laughed. “Brother Long, look, the kid’s so scared he’s frozen.”
The bikers revved their engines, circling Lin Yi slowly.
Lin Yi swept his gaze calmly over them. “Let’s go.”
“Well, kid, you have some nerve after all.” Sun Wenlong sneered.
He was already thinking to himself that once in the alley, he’d break Lin Yi’s legs for sure.
The memory of being thrown out of the hospital still burned in his chest.
Soon, the group reached the alley.
Sun Wenlong, full of swagger, looked at Lin Yi. “Kneel and kowtow ten times. Maybe if I’m in a good mood, I’ll let you go.”
Lin Yi replied with a quiet voice, “If you kneel and kowtow ten times for me now, I might let you off.”
His words stunned everyone present.
Sun Wenlong broke the brief silence with a laugh.
The others followed suit, laughing loudly.
Where did this fool come from? Even now, he hadn’t grasped the situation.
“What did you just say? I didn’t catch that—say it again?”
Sun Wenlong leaned his ear close to Lin Yi, arrogant as ever.
Lin Yi shook his head slightly, then grabbed Sun Wenlong’s collar, easily lifting him off the ground.
“Let go! Kid, let go of me!”
Sun Wenlong shouted, suddenly recalling the moment he’d been tossed out of the hospital.
The alley, crowded with bikers, erupted with shouts: “Let go of Brother Long, or else we won’t be so nice!”
“Not so nice?”
Lin Yi smiled faintly, then swung his arm. Sun Wenlong flew like a bowling ball, crashing into the bikers and knocking over more than ten of them before finally coming to a halt, his body aching all over.
