Chapter 100: Could You Please Let My Master Down?

There was a hint of reproach and helplessness in Su Qing’s words.
She was genuinely worried that her mistress might lose her way back. What if her mistress flew off and couldn’t recognize the path? Where would she go then?
Although her mistress could eventually find her way back by following the mark left on herself, who knew when her mistress would even remember that mark existed...
Sigh! Su Qing thought her mistress was good in every way, except that her memory was just too, too, too... inconvenient.
She sighed silently once more, wondering when her mistress would start paying attention to such matters.
Su Qing’s gentle reproach was something Ji Tianxin had grown accustomed to; she knew it was because Su Qing cared about her.
“I saw someone fall into the water just now, so I went over to check. When I wanted to return, I forgot the way,” she explained slowly.
Su Qing wasn’t impatient; used to Ji Tianxin’s slow speech, she waited for her to finish.
Half amused, half resigned, Su Qing said, “I understand.”
Sikou Yan found the interaction between the mistress and her maid somewhat surprising. He had assumed that with Ji Tianxin’s aloof nature, her relationship with her maid would be cold and distant. Yet, their relationship was quite equal.
She would patiently explain things to her maid, and the maid would listen attentively.
It was like a well-behaved child telling her what she had just done and where she had been.
Su Qing then stepped forward gracefully, offering a polite smile: “Thank you, young sir, for bringing my mistress back. Now that she has returned, might I ask if you could... put her down?”

Su Qing’s last few words were spoken with a smile—part teasing but inoffensive.
Such subtlety was not something an ordinary wild girl from the streets could manage.
This maid’s background... was probably not simple either.
Beneath his silver mask, Sikou Yan’s lips curled slightly. “Coincidentally, I’m headed to Taiyang Palace as well. How about I bring Xiao Xin along?”
Su Qing: “...” What does that mean? Is he planning to carry the mistress back?
Ji Tianxin had no objection; since she was going back anyway, not having to walk would save her some effort.
She simply settled down and lazily rested her chin on Sikou Yan’s shoulder.
“Mm.” She uttered a soft, indistinct sound.
Su Qing, well aware of her mistress’s habits, twitched the corner of her mouth: Is the mistress so lazy now that she can’t even be bothered to walk?
But since her mistress agreed, Su Qing naturally said nothing.
She was just curious about this man behind the silver mask.
Who exactly was this man who had carried her mistress twice now... even picking her up like that?
This was truly... impressive!

If Master Bai found out about this, he would probably be so angry he’d suffer an early death...
She also wondered whether Master Bai would end up fighting this young sir, and if so, who would win?
Su Qing’s mind was filled with all sorts of speculation and questions.
At that moment, at Taiyang Palace—
After seeing Ji Yuanruo return but Ji Tianxin still absent, Ji Huaili’s expression darkened.
Ji Yuanruo said nothing, sitting down immediately upon returning, drinking silently.
Ji Huaili wanted to wait for him to say something but was left waiting in vain.
Meanwhile, Yan Xu and Ye Ling from the Royal Wind Academy had both returned earlier, but their faces looked tense and paler than before.
Ji Huaili was puzzled. They had only been gone a short while, yet they looked as if severely wounded...
