Chapter 122: Advancing While Drunk
Ji Tianxin’s cheeks were burning. She had no idea where she had flown to, and she could not be bothered to run any farther, so she simply lay down on the roof to enjoy the breeze.
She felt so hot. Lying down really was much cooler.
Her thick lashes drooped gently, lending her a slightly dazed air. She shifted a little, intending to turn over, but lost her balance and rolled straight off the roof!
Her white-clad figure tumbled rapidly toward the eaves, dropping directly from the roof tiles.
Yet just as she fell into midair, her body suddenly stopped and hung suspended.
Ji Tianxin raised a hand, looking somewhat annoyed, and murmured weakly, “How annoying…”
With that small movement, a milky-white radiance flowed from her hand as well.
The force supported her body, and even her form seemed to be shrouded in a faint halo, as though she were wrapped in a mass of spiritual energy. She resembled a pure, immaculate spirit nurtured within the primordial chaos at the dawn of creation—beautiful as a dream, illusory as a fantasy.
Just then, a pale-blue figure suddenly flew over and caught the little girl suspended in midair, gathering her into his arms.
Ji Tianxin opened her eyes slightly and parted her lips. Her soft murmur was thick with a childish, milky sweetness.
“Master…”
Baizhu frowned, equal parts helpless and amused. “Look at you. I can’t tell whether you’re drunk on milk or drunk on wine.”
Ji Tianxin understood his teasing perfectly. At that moment, she merely felt unbearably hot all over. It was as though a ball of fire were burning within her dantian, while her entire network of meridians seemed to have been doused in molten lava, leaving her body scorching and uncomfortable.
But she could endure it, so she made no sound. It was merely… uncomfortable.
Moreover, she seemed to sense that her primordial spirit was heating up as well, darting through her body like a ball of flame.
Baizhu was both irritated and indulgent. “You were gone only a few days, and the moment you return, you’re drunk like this. What a glutton. I really don’t know how Suqing managed to keep watch over you.”
He had been worried, which was why he had taken the time to return. He had not expected to find Ji Tianxin drunk and tumbling from the roof the moment he arrived.
When he saw that Ji Tianxin’s brows remained tightly furrowed, Baizhu’s expression shifted slightly.
Only then did he notice that Ji Tianxin was not merely burning with heat. A layer of “aura,” almost imperceptible to the naked eye, was also circulating around her.
He glanced around and discovered that the spiritual energy in the surrounding area seemed to be gathering toward this place. Ji Tianxin’s body was like a gigantic black hole, endlessly absorbing all the spiritual energy nearby.
“Could this be… an advancement?” Baizhu asked, his voice filled with disbelief.
Advancing while drunk—who would ever believe such a thing if they heard it spoken aloud?
Had it been anyone else, Baizhu himself would never have believed it.
But since it was his disciple, Ji Tianxin, he absolutely could believe it!
Even so, this had gone far beyond the limits of his understanding.
Had Xin’er really advanced while in such a muddled state?
It had not been long since he heard her say that her progress had slowed considerably and that, having only recently reached the Return to True Realm, she needed time to consolidate her cultivation.
Yet before much time had passed, Xin’er had already advanced to the Second Heaven of the Return to True Realm?
How could such a thing be possible?
Could it be that what Xin’er had told him last time was merely meant to comfort him, fearing that he would be discouraged… and that she had actually deceived him?
