Lu Wenchuan waited for a while without hearing a response from Sang Yijia. He furrowed his brow in concern and asked again, “What’s wrong?” His tone remained as gentle as ever, without the slightest hint of impatience.

With a sudden start, Sang Yijia snapped back to reality and rubbed her tingling, burning ear. “We wanted to ask if you’d like to play a game with us?” she replied.

“Ningsi, Bianhe, and Wild are all here. If you join us, we’ll have five people and won’t need to find an outsider for the team,” Sang Yijia explained.

Lu Wenchuan nodded, “So that makes me an insider?”

“???” Sang Yijia hesitated—if you think of inside as the opposite of outside, there’s nothing wrong with that. “Yes… so, will you join us?”

“Give me a moment. I’ll download the game and register an account,” Lu Wenchuan replied.

Sang Yijia blinked in surprise. She hadn’t expected him to agree so readily, and her already hot ears seemed to burn even more. “Alright, then we’ll wait for you.”

“Okay.”

The call ended. Sang Yijia stared at the call screen, lost in thought. Only after a while did she realize that this entire scene had been captured for the show. Her eyes widened in shock.

The livestream viewers were thoroughly entertained.

[He agreed! He really agreed!]

[Feels like something’s about to start between these two…]

[But come to think of it, isn’t Sang Yijia a bit too quick to fall for someone?]

Almost everyone watching the stream had heard stories of Sang Yijia’s past exploits, so when this was brought up, silence fell. The bullet chat slowed, as viewers didn’t know what to say.

Meanwhile, Sang Yijia glanced at the camera, pressed her lips together, returned to sit on the bed, and logged into the game again.

The game’s rooms were open to join freely. As soon as she logged on, she saw Yan Ningsi’s invitation and accepted without hesitation.

“So? Is Brother Lu coming?” Yan Ningsi had just bet that Lu Wenchuan would show up.

She’d hoped to win a small prize from the bet, but both Wild and Bianhe agreed Lu Wenchuan would come, so there was no wager to be made. Later, however, Bianhe changed his mind and said Lu Wenchuan wouldn’t come. Only then was the bet set.

The viewers could see clearly—Bianhe was just indulging Ningsi.

[Bianhe, you just spoil her!]

[At least now Ningsi knows how Bianhe feels, right?]

[Can these two hurry up and make some progress already???]

[Right now, Ningsi probably doesn’t even know who she likes more!]

The bullet chat was abuzz, but those involved were oblivious.

“He’ll come, but he needs to download the game and register, so it might take a while,” Sang Yijia said. She didn’t leave the room but switched out of the main screen to look around and noticed there was a lottery event. She asked offhandedly, “What’s the difference between the diamond draw and the points draw?”

“They both have prizes,” Duan Yuqing answered. “See if there’s anything you want in there.”

“If there is, just try your luck,” Bianhe added. “You can try the points draw—there are heroes and skins you can’t buy any other way.”

Sang Yijia checked out the prizes in the diamond draw but didn’t like any of them, so she switched over to the points draw. As soon as she saw the rewards, she was instantly captivated by the hero Wu Zetian.

“I want that one,” Sang Yijia said, blinking.

“Then top up your account,” Bianhe replied. “You need crystals to exchange for it.”

“If you do two hundred draws, you’re guaranteed a crystal,” Duan Yuqing added, thinking it would probably cost several thousand yuan to hit two hundred draws. That used to be a huge expense for her, but now she didn’t think much of it.

“How much would that cost?” Sang Yijia considered. If it was too much, she’d rather not.

She could do a lot with that money instead.

“A couple thousand, give or take,” Bianhe replied nonchalantly. “That’s just one less outfit for you guys.”

Yan Ningsi snorted, “Your clothes cost thousands?”

“It’s not that bad,” Bianhe replied, but he sensed Ningsi’s displeasure and subconsciously clenched his palm. “What’s wrong?”

“Didn’t you wear a T-shirt last time that cost tens of thousands?” Ningsi clicked her tongue. “Would a few thousand even buy you a pair of shoes?”

[The joys of the rich are beyond me.]

[So expensive…]

[I’m still fighting for ten- or twenty-yuan clothes on budget shopping apps…]

Sang Yijia raised her brows in surprise. She recalled Bianhe’s outfits always looked simple and ordinary, but she hadn’t imagined they cost over ten thousand.

Then she remembered the original host’s clothes. For the past few years, without her family’s help, her clothes were still all expensive—five hundred yuan was the cheapest piece she owned.

Suddenly, Sang Yijia’s heart tightened. The life of the wealthy truly was beyond the imagination of ordinary people.

Before entering the novel, her own clothes had always been a hundred or so each, with only her winter down jacket costing a bit more—but never over two thousand, and the most expensive one had been bought at a discount for fifteen hundred.

In fact, Sang Yijia had always been reluctant to wear even that jacket, only taking it out for the coldest days.

“Forget it, it’s just a game. As long as I can play, that’s enough,” Sang Yijia said, closing the draw screen. The original host was wealthy, but that wasn’t her money.

She didn’t want to spend too much of the original host’s money, so she’d have to earn her own.

Clenching her palm, Sang Yijia became more determined to find a part-time job.

“Brother Lu will need a while. Should we play an arcade mode in the meantime?” Bianhe suggested, since they’d been chatting for a while. If they weren’t gaming, they might as well be on a call.

Duan Yuqing agreed, finding it boring to just chat. Bianhe’s suggestion was exactly what she’d been thinking, though she hadn’t said so. “I’m fine with anything.”

“Me too,” Yan Ningsi chimed in, then asked Sang Yijia, “Jiajia, what do you think?”

“Let’s play for a bit,” Sang Yijia replied. Just chatting wouldn’t do them any good.

Seeing everyone agree, Bianhe grinned, then thought of something. “Let’s just play a quick round.”

“I’ll send the invites.”

Bianhe exited to set up the game.

A moment later, Duan Yuqing’s screen flashed with an invitation. She pursed her lips and declined.

Soon after, another invite came from Bianhe, along with one from the previous person. Duan Yuqing calmly rejected the other invite and joined Bianhe’s room.

By then, Yan Ningsi, Bianhe, and Sang Yijia were all there.

“Sorry, someone else invited me just now,” Duan Yuqing explained.

“Was it an old teammate?” Bianhe asked.

“Yeah,” Duan Yuqing replied. “My old support.”

“Why not let them play with us?” Bianhe regretted inviting Lu Wenchuan—wouldn’t it be better to play with Wild’s old teammates?

Yan Ningsi disagreed, “Just one round then send them away?”

“Don’t forget, Brother Lu is still waiting for us.”
