After the morning activities ended, Lan Qing remained behind, waiting for the crew to hand out lunchboxes. Yet, even as Sang Yijia and the others had already left, and the crew was preparing to return, nothing had been distributed.

Lan Qing was confused—why had she thought she would be having lunch with the crew? Why?

Her head throbbed painfully; she couldn’t remember the reason at all.

“Qingqing, what’s wrong?” Shen Jin noticed her pale face, his heart skipping a beat as he quickly steadied her. “Are you feeling unwell?”

“I’m alright,” Lan Qing replied, shaking her head. She tried to say more, but darkness closed over her vision and she lost consciousness.

Shen Jin immediately called for help. “Get an ambulance!”

The crew members rushed over. Not far away, Sang Yijia and her group, about to leave, turned back in confusion.

“What’s going on?” Bian He asked.

Yan Ningsi looked around, but she was too short to see anything. “Who knows?”

“Should we go take a look?” Lu Wenchuan suggested.

Sang Yijia hesitated. The morning’s tasks were done, and there was no need to stay for lunch. If the lunchbox incident wouldn’t occur, then what would take its place... Had something happened between the main leads?

“Let’s go,” Sang Yijia nodded, taking the lead.

Lu Wenchuan followed, with Yan Ningsi and Bian He bringing up the rear.

Watching Sang Yijia’s back, Yan Ningsi frowned. “Do you think Jia Jia still hasn’t gotten over Shen Jin?”

“Obviously,” Bian He clicked his tongue. “If she could just forget him like that, what kind of person would she be?”

“A heartless one,” Yan Ningsi answered honestly. “But to move on from a relationship, you have to start a new one.”

Bian He quickly stopped her. “That wasn’t a relationship, it was unrequited love. Not the same thing.”

“If you say something wrong,” Bian He gestured to the camera behind them and the microphone clipped to their collars, “fans across the country will come after you.”

“Oh,” Yan Ningsi grumbled, unconvinced. “I’m going to see what’s happening anyway.”

Sang Yijia and Lu Wenchuan were the first to arrive. At a glance, they saw Lan Qing lying in Shen Jin’s arms, surrounded by the crew.

“Did anyone call an ambulance?” Sang Yijia frowned at the crowd encircling them. “Give her some space. Let Lan Qing get some fresh air.”

She gently pulled aside a crew member, then looked at Shen Jin. “Lay her flat on the ground.”

“Did she have breakfast this morning?” On her first day, Lan Qing had fainted from low blood sugar. Everyone knew she was dieting, and they were all worried this would happen again.

Shen Jin was panicking, clutching Lan Qing tightly. “I don’t know. We were apart this morning.” In reality, after he finished washing up, Lan Qing had said she’d already eaten and left the rest for him.

He’d seen the breakfast—there wasn’t much, and he knew she was dieting, but thought nothing of it. During the activity, Lan Qing hadn’t shown any discomfort, so he hadn’t suspected anything.

“I don’t know how much she ate,” Shen Jin replied, lowering his head, resentment simmering within. He hated that, at this critical moment, Sang Yijia had stolen the spotlight. She would surely earn the public’s sympathy on social media.

Clenching his fists, Shen Jin resolved to win back the attention later—he couldn’t let Sang Yijia have it all.

“When will the ambulance arrive?” This was a scenic area, with stairs at the foot of the hill—even with a road, it would take time. Lu Wenchuan glanced at Sang Yijia, then at the unconscious Lan Qing. His lips pressed together, he pulled out his phone and called the hotel manager.

“I know the hotel has a medical team. Have them come over immediately and take Miss Lan to the lounge.”

“Alright.” Director Chen had been called back. An artist having an accident during filming—especially during a live broadcast—was something he couldn’t afford to have happen.

Hearing Lu Wenchuan’s words, Director Chen felt a little relieved, but then asked, “Mr. Lu, you know the hotel so well?”

“I helped with its development,” Lu Wenchuan replied calmly.

Sang Yijia raised her brows in surprise, but by the time she looked at him again, Lu Wenchuan was already on the phone.

Director Chen, watching Lan Qing’s repeated mishaps, fell deep into thought.

Yan Ningsi and Bian He approached, having learned about Lan Qing’s condition from the crew.

“Even if you’re dieting, you can’t starve yourself,” Yan Ningsi murmured, touching her nose. She was grateful to be a singer and not an actress—she never had to diet so harshly, only avoid spicy foods.

Yan Ningsi’s muttered words reached Shen Jin, who was already frustrated from having the spotlight stolen by Sang Yijia. He glared at Yan Ningsi. “Qingqing is dieting for her next role. Yan Ningsi, how dare you criticize her?”

“What?” Yan Ningsi, unaccustomed to being rebuked, was stunned—and then her temper flared. “Did I say anything wrong? No matter how dedicated an actor is, they should care for their health.”

“Which part was wrong?” she pressed.

Bian He tried to stop her. “Just let it go.”

“Let what go?” Yan Ningsi brushed him aside. “Was I wrong? Point it out. If I’m wrong, I’ll apologize. If I’m not, you owe me an apology, Shen Jin!”

Yan Ningsi had never been treated like this at home, and she certainly wasn’t about to let Shen Jin bully her.

“Si Si,” Sang Yijia shook her head at her. As a supporting actress, she had no advantage over the male lead.

“This is Lan Qing’s business. We can’t decide or comment.” Sang Yijia glanced back at Lan Qing, noticing the flutter of her lashes—she was likely regaining consciousness, but for some reason remained still.

“We should respect her choice.”

Yan Ningsi gritted her teeth, but for Sang Yijia’s sake, she let it go.

“The medical team is here.” Director Chen led them over, unaware of the argument that had just occurred.

Shen Jin carried Lan Qing past Yan Ningsi, shooting her a cold look. “If any rumors start because of you, I’ll make sure you regret it.”

“Heh.” Yan Ningsi folded her arms. “I’m not afraid of anyone.”

Watching them, Sang Yijia felt a throbbing pain at her temples. The plot was spiraling out of control.

As for what the future held, Sang Yijia could only feel lost.
