Chapter 80: Better Left Unmentioned, Once Spoken, It Cannot Be Forgotten
After the game ended, Sang Yijia sat in her room, staring at the game interface, lost in thought. Looking at her nickname, "Reckless Youth," she felt the urge to change it, but couldn't decide on a suitable replacement. Suddenly, she noticed Lu Wenchuan's profile picture in her friend list, and instantly thought of his username—Reed Ash.
So simple.
Yet the color was so beautiful.
Sang Yijia clicked into Lu Wenchuan's profile, gazing at his avatar, at that gentle shade of green, and found herself truly, truly, truly fond of it.
After squeezing her palm, she closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and exited the game.
Knock, knock, knock—the sound of someone rapping at the door immediately followed.
"Who is it?" Sang Yijia had intended to splash some water on her face and take a short nap, but at the sound, she got up and called out from the doorway, not planning to open it too quickly.
"Miss Sang, hello, we're from the production team," came the voice of the segment director from outside.
Sang Yijia opened the door and saw the entire filming crew had arrived. She squinted and stepped aside to let them in. "What is it?"
"It's like this," the assistant director began, a bit hesitant, "the executive director feels the current room arrangement is unreasonable, so everyone will be moved into suites now. Miss Sang, do you think that's acceptable?"
"That's fine," Sang Yijia replied without refusal. "I'll let Lu Wenchuan know in a bit."
"Thank you," the director said gratefully. "We'll gather downstairs in a little while."
With a glance at the time, he added, "About half an hour from now."
"Alright." Sang Yijia accepted the envelope handed to her, giving it a light squeeze—it must be the key card.
"Then we won't disturb your rest any longer," the director said as he and the crew left, everyone visibly relieved.
Outside the door, the segment director glanced at the now-closed door. "I thought Sang Yijia might refuse."
"Probably not. I think this task was pretty easy," someone replied.
Another chimed in, "Sang Yijia isn't nearly as difficult as the rumors say. In fact, she seems approachable, nothing like those other big stars with their odd tempers."
The segment director looked at the two of them. "You'd better not say such things so openly."
"Who knows if someone among us might overhear and go reporting to others?" He swept his gaze over his crew. "Rest up. We still have work ahead."
The voices faded from outside. Sang Yijia, envelope in hand, returned to her room. On camera, she opened it. "It's a key card."
[Why are they suddenly changing rooms?]
[The production team must have realized the arrangement was off.]
[It was never right from the start. I think Xiao Sisi and Bian He’s rooms were arranged correctly.]
[Does anyone know what’s really going on?]
The livestream audience launched a new round of discussion, watching Sang Yijia's reaction.
[Does this mean Sang Yijia will be with Brother Lu now?]
[Sharing a roof seems quite nice.]
[Hehe~]
Sang Yijia frowned slightly as she looked at the key card, then took a photo and sent it to Lu Wenchuan via WeChat, explaining the situation.
Almost as soon as the message was sent, Lu Wenchuan called.
She answered promptly, "Hello."
"Mm," Lu Wenchuan responded, amusement in his voice at her businesslike tone, "When do we move?"
"Now, I guess?" Sang Yijia glanced down at the key card. "The director said we should gather in half an hour."
"They probably want to brief us on this afternoon’s task."
"Alright, I’ll head over soon," Lu Wenchuan said simply. "You go ahead and pack up."
"Okay." Sang Yijia hung up, set her phone aside, and began to pack.
Half an hour wasn't much time; moving everything to a new room would take some effort.
Lu Wenchuan didn’t have much luggage. Ten minutes later, he was already at her door, but didn’t hurry in—instead, he waited outside for Sang Yijia to come out.
Seeing her with two suitcases, he wanted to offer help, but she was pulling both with ease.
He had no choice but to withdraw his hand.
[Hahaha, Brother Lu always wants to help, but never knows how.]
[Sang Yijia is really strong.]
[What’s the big deal? I can do that too.]
[Same here! Back in college, I used to haul water up seven flights of stairs by myself.]
[I can change light bulbs, unclog drains, and carry a fifty-pound sack of rice up five flights, and I never made a fuss.]
The chat became a contest of who was more capable.
Director Chen, watching the barrage, twitched his lips hard. "Look at this. If this keeps up, who’s ever going to want to date?"
No one answered, since plenty of the female staff present were single.
Among the Sang family, only Sang’s mother and Sang Qiwu were still glued to the livestream.
Watching the strength Sang Yijia had gained from her training, Sang Qiwu felt very proud. Turning to his mother, he said, "See, Mom? My training really paid off, didn’t it?"
"It did pay off, but…" How was she supposed to showcase feminine grace now? How could a man ever feel needed?
But seeing her silly son so pleased, Sang’s mother moved her lips but couldn’t bring herself to say it, and instead nodded with feigned sincerity.
"Yes, you’re absolutely right."
Sang Qiwu, oblivious to her reaction, kept his eyes on the screen, inwardly smug—if anyone wanted to take advantage, they could keep dreaming!
—
Sang Yijia truly didn’t pick up on Lu Wenchuan’s intentions. Carrying her luggage out, she remembered something and pulled an envelope from her pocket, handing it over. "Here’s the key card."
"I already have mine. That one’s yours," Lu Wenchuan replied after glancing at it. "Thank you."
"It’s the production team’s arrangement, not really my decision," Sang Yijia said honestly.
[Hahaha.]
[So straightforward.]
[Who could even respond to that?]
Lu Wenchuan said nothing more. Both of them waited by the elevator with their suitcases.
Before long, Lan Qing and Shen Jin arrived as well.
Seeing Sang Yijia and Lu Wenchuan moving rooms, Lan Qing raised her brows sharply, wondering if the production team was really going to put all three couples on the same floor.
Shen Jin, noticing how close Sang Yijia and Lu Wenchuan were standing, narrowed his eyes. Thinking of her previous rejection, he drew a cold breath, his gaze frosty as he swept a glance over, unwilling to look even a moment longer, and turned to Lan Qing with a bright, sunny smile.
[Here comes the drama.]
[What drama? Shen Jin never liked Sang Yijia.]
[Even if Sang Yijia said she wouldn’t like him anymore, seeing someone she once liked flirting with another girl right in front of her must still sting.]
[Didn’t you see how Shen Jin never used to remember the silly things Sang Yijia did back then?]
Jiajia: What should I do? I really like Lu Wenchuan’s name, and his profile picture, and the color is so pretty! I want it!
