Yan Ningsi immediately felt displeased upon hearing this. She snorted and turned her head away. "There’s no way she did it."

Yan Ningsi had only come over to ask Sang Yijia if she knew who was responsible. How did it become a question of whether she did it when it came to Bian He?

She shot a sharp glare and said grumpily, "Don’t go saying things recklessly. If Jia Jia hears you, she’ll definitely misunderstand me."

"Then weren't you rushing over earlier because you wanted to know about this matter?" Bian He curled his lips. Noticing the elevator still rising, he arched a brow. "Where are you headed?"

Bian He thought to himself that Zhuang Fei had already clearly rejected Yan Ningsi last night. And yet she still shamelessly wanted to find him?

"You're not going to see Zhuang Fei, are you?"

Yan Ningsi felt a lump in her throat, neither able to swallow it down nor spit it out. Her face turned sour. "Yes, yes, yes, I am going to see Zhuang Fei. What? Are you following me again?"

Bian He remained silent.

An awkward atmosphere filled the elevator.

After a long pause, Bian He finally spoke slowly, "If you don’t mind me coming along, then of course I don’t mind."

Yan Ningsi felt as if a mouthful of old blood was stuck in her throat again.

The two stared at each other, eyes wide with tension, until finally Yan Ningsi raised her hand in surrender. "I’m not going to see Zhuang Fei."

"My friend is hospitalized. I just want to visit."

"Who?" Bian He wanted to ask if it was a man or a woman, but he realized he had no standing to inquire further and held back.

"I told you, you don’t know them," Yan Ningsi replied, then quickly added before Bian He’s expression changed, "But soon you will get to know them."

"Fine." Bian He was genuinely curious about who Yan Ningsi’s friend was.

Meanwhile, Sang Yijia and Sang Qiwu waited in the underground parking lot for Sang Zheng and his wife to arrive.

"Second Brother, is Third Brother really okay?" Sang Yijia had just gone to Sang Qibo’s temporary office but didn’t find him there.

Sang Qiwu waved his hands repeatedly. "What could be wrong?"

"Nothing at all," Sang Qiwu said, placing his large hand gently on Sang Yijia’s head. "The girl from the Lan family has woken up. The Lans know it was just an accident and haven’t said anything."

"Don’t worry," he continued, ruffling Sang Yijia’s hair affectionately. His eyes were full of tenderness and then he smiled. "You used to hate it when I messed up your hair. Don’t hate it anymore?"

"I still hate it, but you’re my second brother," Sang Yijia replied. "So it’s bearable."

Sang Qiwu paused, then laughed heartily. "Then I really won’t hold back from now on."

—

Sang Yijia understood what he meant and turned away with a hum. Just then, she saw Sang Zheng and their mother approaching, hand in hand.

"Dad, Mom," Sang Yijia called out.

Sang Qiwu stopped ruffling her hair.

"Are you two still kids?" Sang Mother said, noticing Sang Yijia’s messy hair. She took a comb from her bag and began smoothing her daughter’s hair.

Sang Yijia’s long hair was glossy, smooth, without split ends, and hardly ever tangled.

"Such good hair quality," Sang Mother murmured. It had been a long time since she last combed her daughter’s hair—probably not since Sang Yijia was in kindergarten.

Recalling old memories, a wave of emotion swept over Sang Mother. "In the blink of an eye, you’ve all grown up."

"Mom, I haven’t grown up. I’ll always be your little sweetheart," Sang Yijia said, linking arms with her mother and tilting her head to rest on her shoulder.

Sang Zheng looked on with envy. His daughter hadn’t acted so affectionately toward him for many years now. He gazed at his wife with a pang of longing, silently wishing she would share some of their daughter’s love with him.

Alas, his wife’s eyes didn’t seem to see him at all.

Sang Qiwu chuckled warmly, watching his parents vie for affection. Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed their car pulling up. "Dad, the car’s here."

Sang Qiwu and Sang Mother had come together in their own car.

Since the family was all here, they would naturally return together.

Only the car Sang Zheng drove had enough seats.

"Mom, little sister, get in," Sang Qiwu said, opening the back seat when the car stopped.

Sang Yijia and Sang Mother linked arms and got in separately.

Sang Qiwu told the driver to get out, took the wheel himself, and Sang Zheng sat in the front passenger seat.

After the Rolls-Royce pulled away, another car soon followed nearby.

Inside the car, two reporters in the backseat looked over the photos they had just taken, murmuring to each other.

"Wow, that’s impressive."

"Before, Lan Qing pretended to be the Lan family’s eldest daughter. Now, Sang Yijia seems to be some kind of wealthy heiress?"

"Sang family?" the other reporter asked. "Is the Sang family even well-known in the circle?"

"Not really. I barely ever heard of them."

The reporters were confused, unsure whether it was true or false.

After pondering for a moment, the reporter in the driver’s seat cautiously suggested, "Do you think the Sang family knows about Lan Qing’s situation and are deliberately putting on airs now?"

"Rolls-Royce, huh? You think it’s that easy to rent one?" someone scoffed.

"Even if they did rent it, it must have cost a lot."

"Who knows? But it’s a good angle. Once published, plenty of people will click to see the drama."

The driver snorted. "That’s just my opinion."

"We’re all on the same team. What’s the difference between yours and mine?" the other replied casually, focusing on organizing photos in the camera.

Another opened a document and began editing the content.

"The sooner we post it, the more attention we get." Everyone knew Sang Yijia had been discharged, but few had actually staked out her place.

Most insiders were camped outside Lan Qing and Shen Jin’s places.

The three reporters assigned to cover Sang Yijia originally thought there wouldn’t be much news to write. Now, it seemed they were lucky—this would be an easy article to finish.

—

Lan Qing had only gone out to eat once with Jian Hong, but the reporters had already caught them. The entire internet was flooded with GIFs from last night.

She recalled the events from the previous night, feeling a surge of resistance and irritation. She angrily logged out of Weibo, then glanced at her assistant. "Did Hong Jie say how we’re supposed to handle this?"

"Hong Jie said just deny it," the assistant replied. "Later, we’ll dig up some old photos to show you were somewhere else."

Lan Qing was frustrated and agitated, running her hands through her hair. "I don’t want to see those comments online anymore."

"Hong Jie said the company is dealing with it," the assistant said quietly, careful not to upset Lan Qing, who was clearly on edge.

"It’s been a whole night. Why isn’t it resolved yet?" Lan Qing was almost furious. She wished she hadn’t agreed to go to that dinner; then this nonsense wouldn’t have happened.

Her phone rang. Seeing it was her agent Jian Hong, she bit back her anger and reluctantly answered the call.

"Your movie is confirmed. You’re still the female lead," Jian Hong said. She had gone to negotiate the cooperation earlier that morning and left the online rumors to the team, not paying them much mind.
