Chapter 155: Why Is Progress So Rapid
The planners following behind were itching to ask Yan Ningsi whether she was the producer or they were. Yet, seeing Director Chen’s expression, he truly seemed to be considering Yan Ningsi’s suggestion. The planner recalled several previous activities that had been scrapped precisely because of her ideas.
Suddenly, the planner felt like crying.
Director Chen thought it over seriously. Looking at the male guests, each possessed a set of eight-pack abs; surely, carrying a female guest in a bridal style would be no trouble at all. Furthermore, Yan Ningsi’s suggestion was excellent—it increased the interaction between the young couples while showcasing the individual charm of the men.
"Fine!" Director Chen agreed.
Yan Ningsi jumped for joy. "Great!"
"Jiajia, I don't think I'll let you win."
"..." Sang Yijia paused, then hummed in acknowledgment. "That's a different story."
Whether it was the original owner of the body or Sang Yijia herself, her athletic ability was quite good; beach volleyball should not be a difficult task.
Lu Wenchuan looked at Sang Yijia’s physique and nodded. "Even if we lose, I can still hold you while doing dozens of squats."
"Let's not," Sang Yijia shook her head in refusal. "Let's aim to win instead."
"Alright, whatever you say." Lu Wenchuan smiled. He had actually wanted to trigger a penalty, but since Sang Yijia didn't agree, it was a bit of a pity.
The beach volleyball match wouldn't start immediately. The remaining time was left for the guests to enjoy themselves freely by the sea—swimming, diving, playing ball, or doing whatever they pleased.
Sang Yijia wasn't in a hurry to head to the water; she sat under a beach umbrella to rest. Seeing Lu Wenchuan approach, she stood up and walked toward him.
The sight of the handsome man and beautiful woman walking together was a feast for the eyes.
Lan Qing recalled the dream she had last night, and her gaze tightened slightly. Those scenes were incredibly vivid, as if they were fated to happen, yet here they were, not coming to pass. Lan Qing frowned, wanting to ask Sang Yijia, but then she realized that Sang Yijia likely knew nothing. If she were to ask so rashly, wouldn't it reveal that she herself knew something?
Lan Qing hesitated.
Shen Jin watched her, noticing her indecision—wanting to go over yet holding back—and gave a soft scoff. "Regretting it now?"
"If you hadn't been with me during the last recording, the person with Lu Wenchuan right now would be you, wouldn't it?"
Lan Qing turned to look at him, her gaze icy. "And what about you?"
"Are you regretting it too, now that you know Sang Yijia’s background?" Lan Qing sneered. "Wouldn't it have been better if you had just said yes when she openly pursued you before?"
"What's the point of this now?"
Shen Jin’s expression darkened. "Aren't you regretting it just the same?"
"For failing to snag the real young master of the Shen family?" Shen Jin cast a sideways glance. Shen Jing and Xu Wei were getting along quite normally, without crossing that line, but Shen Jin could see Xu Wei’s ambition; she was playing a game of retreat to advance.
Lan Qing stared intently at Shen Jin, unable to understand why her dream-self would have ever fallen for him, let alone married him and had a child. The more she thought about it, the more disgusted she felt; she became convinced the dream was fake—it couldn't possibly be real.
"That has nothing to do with you." Lan Qing had no desire to continue entangling herself with Shen Jin and turned to leave.
But Shen Jin followed, wrapping an arm around her waist. His hand rested on her midsection, the delicate sensation beneath his palm making his mind wander, though he remained gentlemanly for the cameras.
Lan Qing did not share the sentiment. "Let go!"
"We’re still filming," Shen Jin whispered into her ear. "If we don't cooperate, how are we supposed to maintain our established CP pairing?"
"If you hadn't insisted, we wouldn't be paired up anymore," Lan Qing retorted viciously.
After returning last night, Lan Qing had discussed it with her manager, Jian Hong; if they cut those scenes, they would have to re-record. Setting aside whether Sang Yijia would agree, the first person to object would be Yan Ningsi. Lan Qing knew there was no hope and just wanted the filming to end as quickly as possible.
"The later draw was fate, wasn't it?" Shen Jin asked with a smile, taking advantage of the moment to touch her again, as if by accident.
Lan Qing was so angry her cheeks turned red. "Shen Jin, this is going to be broadcast."
"Aren't you afraid Huang Hong will come after you?" At that moment, Lan Qing actually felt that Huang Hong’s existence wasn't such a bad thing.
Shen Jin’s face changed. "Very well, Lan Qing."
Seeing him pull his hand away, Lan Qing gave a disdainful "hmpf." "I thought you were so capable, but it turns out you're just afraid of a guy like Huang Hong."
Without waiting for a reply, Lan Qing broke away and quickly joined the conversation between Xu Wei and Shen Jing.
Shen Jin stood behind, watching her, his tongue pressing against his cheek, creating a bulge. His gaze was cold and dark.
—
Sang Yijia sensed a cold stare. She glanced in that direction, took one look, and immediately looked away. She had no intention of interfering in the development between the male and female leads. She was satisfied with her life as it was now.
"Want to go diving?" Lu Wenchuan asked.
"Are you taking me?" Sang Yijia countered.
Lu Wenchuan raised an eyebrow. "Of course."
He wouldn't miss a chance to spend time alone with her. He looked at her and added, "I've already had someone prepare the diving gear."
"We'll head over together in a moment." Lu Wenchuan’s gaze swept over her once more. In front of the woman he loved, he found it hard to restrain himself; he wanted to look at her constantly, but he knew that would make her uncomfortable. He was trying his best to hold back.
"Mm." Sang Yijia didn't think much of it and went with him to change into the gear.
The sub-director had been filming them the whole time. "The way a real couple interacts and feels is just different," the director remarked with a sigh. "I wonder how many viewers will be shocked when this airs."
After all, who would have thought that Sang Yijia would truly give up on Shen Jin and get together with Lu Wenchuan so quickly?
Yan Ningsi and Bian He were playing ball on the beach like kindergarteners—tossing it back and forth. It was childish, but Yan Ningsi was having a blast. Then, seeing Lu Wenchuan and Sang Yijia head toward the other side of the beach, she rushed to pull Bian He along. "Let's go over there too."
"That's for diving. Do you know how?" Bian He asked.
Yan Ningsi rolled her eyes at him. "Just this? You don't know how?"
"Fine, I'll take you." Yan Ningsi patted her chest in assurance. "The underwater world will definitely not disappoint you."
Bian He gave a flat "oh." He wasn't interested in the underwater world; he was only interested in one person. But Yan Ningsi wasn't yet certain if she was interested in him.
Bian He sighed softly, turning his gaze toward the backs of Sang Yijia and Lu Wenchuan. He pinched his chin, thoughtful. "I'm curious, why is the progress between Sang Yijia and Lu Wenchuan so fast?"
They had seemed so distant from each other before.
